Kind of pissed...

So I recently ordered 2 bridesmaid dresses for the weddings I am in this year and the place measured me and then wanted me to order a size 14... UHHH NO... I wear an 8 normally and I fit into the 10's in the store without a problem but they would only order me a 12 at the smallest. I go pick up one of the dresses yesterday and guess what??? The thing is falling off of me. It's about 2 sizes too big. This just irks me because I wanted to order the 10 but they wouldn't let me and now I am stuck paying for alterations.

If your girls haven't ordered their dresses yet when they go have them try on dresses by that designer when they are in the store. If they fit in a dress don't let the store talk them into ordering a bigger size.

i hate that.... thats why i always take my dresses to the local tailor for alterations... you wont get killed

sorry but if someone told me 'we wont LET you order' a specific size...

i'd tell them to go fk themselves and say 'well then i'm ordering from another store, morons'

Ugh they did that to me with my GOWN! I was wearing an 8 and it was a liiiiiitle snug in the hips. They wouldn't order anything smaller than a 14. I was SO MAD.

I should tell my girls to wear shapers so they look a little smaller and can argue for a size closer to theirs.

Such a scam.

for my bros wedding... we got our dresses at macys in manhasset... they ordered my sisters an 18 and a 20... and wouldnt you know they only needed 16... and also guess what the kicker was... they charge extra for sizes 18 and over... geee thats a coincidence.

I would have burned the store down. I just hate when I know I'm right but then these women were all 'trust us, we do this all of the time... ' so I gave in and now I'm pissed. I'm definitely taking them somewhere else to be altered.

Just to make $$ off of alterations. I'm worried about my gown now since that was ordered in a size 12 as well.

They did the EXACT same thing to me at Macy's in Manhasset. They wanted to order me a size 8 or 10. I am a size 4 and even then I have to get it taken in.

I insisted that they order me a smaller size.

ugh the same thing happened with me except I tried on a dress in the correct size and i had to sign something saying even though they measured me and according to their books i should be this size i am going with a size smaller.

This is all so crazy! Why do vendors think they can take advantage because it is a wedding. I would refuse to give them the sale if they refused to order to my specifications. I would order online and bring it to my own tailor.
I understand this is difficult when ordering for an entire bridal party but you have to let vendors know they aren't the only game in town and you would be more than happy to go to a competitor.
