My Aunt pointed out this morning that my wedding is on a Friday during Lent. Since I'm not religious I totally forgot about it and Catholics aren't supposed to eat meat on Fridays. I feel really bad that some people won;t be able to enjoy the food as much now.

Re: Kind of worried now...
Honestly....I wouldn't worry. I know soooooo many catholics that eat meat one friday during lent because they either forgot or they said 'ahhhh what the heck' I wouldn't worry.

That's what my mom said. Also at least we have the whole raw bar and sushi display, pasta station, 2 fish choices (we actually could add a third but I don't know about the bass), and a vegetarian option. I just am bummed because I didn't even think about it and my aunt made it seem like such a big deal.

I wouldn't worry about it, at least it's not Good Friday (April 6th). I just checked the 2012 bride list and no one is getting married that Friday ... not yet at least

We almost booked it because it was soooo cheap but I knew that was not the right day for me to have a wedding on. And if memory serves me I am pretty sure it is the first day of Passover as well so it would have been a bad day for EVERYONE!

I didn't think about lent or anything when I booked... you would hope the banquet managers would tell you. Either way, it will be fine. I am eating the seafood choice on my wedding day anyway so it wouldn't matter to me

Re: Kind of worried now...
that's a good thing to point out. Our wedding will be after Easter so it's no problem but FH's family is really religious! I would be curious to find out if people would eat meat for one friday night

Re: Kind of worried now...
It can be a cheat day. I'm catholic and follow the Lent season about not eating meat. If I was going to a wedding during Lent, I wouldn't eat meat on Thursday to keep my options open for Friday I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Re: Kind of worried now...
ACTUALLY, a lot of old school Catholics follow this rule, but it's no longer a requirement. ETA, ok,w ell, I was told this but the amendment to the rule is actually kinda confusing. Anyway...
Don't worry about it and just talk to your RH tomake sure there are veggie options available... and make sure there isn't meat hiding in places, like sausage in the stuffed mushrooms and things like that
