I went to a 1st birthday party 2 weeks ago. It was a 4 hour party and it flew by. Of course i thought about my wedding and all the work that goes into it. I am having a 4 hour wedding. 1 hr cocktail and 3 hr reception. I am not doing a tradiotional sit down. I opted for a cocktail reception. Do you guys think i should add another hour so i have a 4 hr. reception?? I am so afraid im going to blink and its going to be over. The only other option is that im having it at the 3 Village Inn and there is a tavern there. My wedding ends at 10:30 and the tavern is open until 12:00. Wondering if i just move the drinking party and the people who are spending the night there to the tavern or do another hour...HELP...lol

I feel the same way. This day that we're taking so long to plan and looking so forward to is going to fly by. When I think about it freaks me out also. If you want to make your wedding last a little longer go with the option that works best or is better for your budget.

I would opt for the tavern as opposed to adding another hour onto the reception....this would prob be more cost efficient as well.....it will give you a change to celebrate in a more laid back setting.

I agree, move the party into the tavern. At least you have that option ...it's a great little tavern too. I was there last night!

Also, let them know ahead of time if you decide to move into the tavern. If it's a saturday night, it gets a little crowded.

Definitely extend your time over to the tavern if you can do it. So much time spent thinking about the wedding and its over in only a few hours! That's why I wanted mine to be an all day event if possible and am having it at Raph's. Even if my guests get bored stiff!

the time is going to fly by anyway.. I just had my shower and I don't know what happened to the time and I know my wedding will be the same.. I feel like the after party may be a little more fun at the Tavern and you may get to relax a little there too!

4 hours or 5 hours, it'll still go by in the blink of an eye. Just a fair warning! Many people do host after parties back at the hotel though. You can definitely do that without moving your entire reception!
