so i emailed two different vendors for two different things i do realize that some and very lil some people are not booking for 2010 but... i recieved two letters back both saying they are not booking yet one was very nice and basically said they will keep me on file and as soon as they are booking for 2010 they will contact me the other who i really wanted to hear back from said thanks and snobbed me off saying they arent booking now .. and that was the end of it...

i write those vendors off right there...pedestals did that to me and i dont care how popular they are...you gave me rude customer service because i wasnt getting married soon enough for you so you can be sure i wont be giving you my business and i'll be sure to let lots of brides know how you handle business

i hate when people do that. when we went to register the person that set up our registry was saying how we had so much time, it was so far away, why were we registering now, etc. that just really pissed me off.
on the other hand, quite a few of the vendors that i was dealing with were really positive about the 2010 date. hopefully I'll find more people like those vendors.

most vendors booked me early. But some do only book a year in advance. My photographer only books weddings a year in advance, she doesnt do it to snub brides but she cant plan things about 2 years in advance bc she has to know her schedule first. She is also getting into fashion photography so she doesnt know her schedule from far ahead of time, and until she knows her schedule for other things she doesnt want to tell a bride yes and then god forbid she cant, she also travels to other states and countries so she has to see first if she will even be here. So for my 2008 wedding I had to wait until 2007 to book her, i had written to her in 2006 and told me when to contact her, was nice and apologized and when i contacted her at the time she told me to, i was one of her first appointments. She does most appointments around march-april but for one week in january she took just a few appointments and i was one of them. TO be honest, when I emailed her the first time and she said this, i was just so excited she wasnt already booked which was my fear and really thought i had no chance of getting her bc of this, just made me happy that now I had a chance of booking her for my own wedding. It was better for me to hear that i have to wait a little to book her rather than hearing 'sorry i am booked already'
It depends on the vendor, but for me personally it was worth it to wait for her. And now that my day has come and gone, i can say that i couldnt have asked for a better photographer and LOOOOVED her

thats weird about pedestals, i booked them about 15 months before my wedding and they had no problem with it. Infact, I had spoken to Nadia at a bridal show and she told me to come in early for an appointment when i was planning on waiting but then said why not book this vendor now

some places only book 18 months in advance, so the ones that blew me off this summer are all contacting me now for appointments in november. so that could be a possibility.

yeah thats different then, if somebody was rude to me then I wouldn't want to go back and book. The only time I had to wait was with the photographer like I said, and we emailed back and forth a few times regarding this and AG was real nice and sweet about it.

I can't believe vendors are STILL doing that. When we went RH hunting at the beginning of the year we got alot of that. But now that its almost 09, I wouldn't except vendors to continute acting like 2010 is 10 years away!

2010 is no longer that far away -- so anyone telling me they're not booking now is probably not going to get my business.
But that's my personal preference. We have our budget worked out in a such a way that we need to space out our deposits.We need some of my vendors to book early so we can pay them.
