KitchenAid Stand Mixer

KitchenAid Stand Mixer

RP from '07
So I just realized there are two different types of these stand mixers - a tilt head one and a bowl lift one.

Which did you register for and why?

I already have one of the two on my registry but didn't realize there were different types. Both are 5 Qt capacity.

The tilt head one is the Artisan (325 watts for $300) and comes with one more attachment than the other- (the pouring shield). Here's the tilt top one:

The one where the bowl lifts is the Professional 5 Plus Series (450 watts for $320). Brings same attachments minus the pouring shield. This is the bowl lift one:

I figured tilt head is easier access? And it's the popular Artisan series so I guess I could find more attachments and whatnot for it (although who knows if I'd actually get them). But the other is more watts, so it's better?? But it doesn't have the pouring shield, and I couldn't find a pouring shield that goes with that mixer.

THANKS!!!

Re: KitchenAid Stand Mixer

We just received our KitchenAid as a wedding gift last week.

I didn't even know there was a difference.

325 watts is fine for everyday mixing.
If you were making bread on a regular basis, I'd go with more wattage, but even 325 is heavy duty.

I like the tilt head better, easier to clean and if you have to get into the bowl to scrape down the sides, it's easier to lift the head than to have to lower the bowl.

Happy baking !

I have the tilt one and I love it. It's easier to clean and gives you better access to the bowl if you need to scrape the sides and stuff.

Thanks ladies! MUCH appreciated! I think I'll stick to the tilt head one (which is the one I already had on my registry anyway! lol)... I feel better knowing a little more about how functional it is to have the tilt head.

I was inspired to look into mine. I apparently have the tilt head design.

Mine was $400, though!
