a kitten somehow got into my garage and has been living there the passed few days, we finally caught him in a trap and i wanted to bring him somewhere where they will save him and not kill him... we adopted my last dog from Little Shelter in Huntington, but they only open at 1pm and im at work, does anyone know if i am able to just drop him off there without telling them im coming?
any other suggestions for a good rescue in nassau?
thanks!

Re: Kitten Rescue Question
NSAL doesn't kill...I also think Grateful Paw, but that is in Huntington, I believe.
I would also take a pic of the kitten and post it around town -I know kittens can get out and some cannot find their way home!

Re: Kitten Rescue Question
Definitely call first. Many of the no kill shelters are overcrowded and will only take emergency cases.
i know of one but it is suffolk county save a pet li

Re: Kitten Rescue Question
I would call ahead - most places can't or won't take an animal directly from a person unless it's an emergency. Shelters on LI are pretty much filled to capacity.

Re: Kitten Rescue Question
If you call any of these places and they are full ask them about local Foster Homes for pets -- there is an organization call Best Friend Pet Adopotion based out of NC but I don't know if they have a local chapter or anything.
