Am I the only one whose cat was never the same after having his claws removed (just front)? He is really off now (see avatar pic), and bites all the time (I think he relies on his teeth now to defend himself, but we are soo nice to him! he doesn't need to defend himself).

my sister's cat was very payful before being declawned, afterwards she was never the same, she doesnt play like she used to....

Thanks for the link....I think Danielle and I have found the perfect kitten......Just afraid of the cat ruining our new furniture.....What should we do???

Get the cats front claws taking out.. and dont believe the stories that it's going to hurt .. it doesnt. Cats recover in 3 days and they get used to them not being there, it's not a painful procedure.. It will save your furniture..

.. what bothers me more is when people who have cats leave them outside. I'm not a big fan of that.

i wouldn't declaw my cats, godforbid he/she needed to defend himself/herself and couldn't...

My cat does bite to play or when she feel she needs to defent herself. She was front declawed pretty much right after we got her so I don't know how she would have been if we didnt declaw.

if you adopt a cat or kitten from a shelter, never tell the shelter that you will declaw the cat. They will not allow you to adopt.

I would take an old tupperware container and fill it with pennies. Everytime my cat started to scratch the couch, I would shake the can by his face( cats hate that). Scratching posts work.

If you go the declawing route(they are fine after a few days), go with laser declawing. It is less painful and less recovery time.

Gotta be honest. I have two cats. They are both declawed. I did not want to declaw them, but fh did, family said do it etc. So we did it.

we only did the front paws, doing all four is cruel because they can't scratch themselves.

If you adopt a kitten(which one?), and you decide to declaw I can recommend a great vet who does laser declawing.

Just a tip, never tell a shelter that you are declawing. They will not let you adopt!!

I don't think it is cruel to declaw the front and backs of cats...my DH declawed our cat's front and back paws...he's fine and a very happy cat.

The cats are all so adorable! I would adopt so many, but our cat is feline leukemia positive.

Keep up all the wonderful work Regi!
