tp329...your babies are so cute in your avatar!!! I remember when I could hold mine in my hands!

My DH and I laugh because when we go over people's houses we talk about our cats like they were our children!!

Thanks! They are a year old now. Ha ha, so do we! People laugh at FH because he is a 6'4 monster but picks up our boys and talks to them like babies and gives them kisses.

It is safe to say we are both obsessed with them.

My husband is a monster too and does the same thing!! His family is in shock! It just reaffirms to me that he will make a great dad.

Same here. We hate going away for weekend trips. We have my friend stay at the apartment and 'spend time' with them.

But they are just so damn cute! And one of them can't meow so he has empty meows and sometimes little squeaks and that makes him even cuter!

That is where I went. My boys weren't sick. They had the runs for the first few days, but that might have been nerves. You are right a lot of them are sick, but it is just a cold, nothing major. You should go somewhere that will put them down so you truley rescue them. Them being TWO

I agree with you about NSAL. But..no matter where you get them you'll need to take them to a vet for shots and then later to be spayed/neutered.

We got 2 kittens from a shelter....we also had them declawed when they were 6 months old. I know...it's very controversial....but I felt like it was the right thing for us to do. They are happy cats. We trained them to sleep in a playpen when they were little kittens....and they still sleep there! They are buddies.

I have 3 cats--2 came from NSAL (but at different times) and 1 came from ASPCA. I cannot agree more that 2 cats are better than 1. Before we got Henry from the ASPCA, our younger cat was so bored because the older cat wasn't interested in playing. Now, Henry and Azrael lick each other, take naps together, and chase each other around the apartment. It's really amusing. Definitely get them a scratcher. Our cats love the cardboard ones from Petco and they're really cheap--only $7 and we get a new one every 6 months or so. Good luck!

ETA: Definitely check out NSAL--they have a lot of cats/dogs that came up from Florida after the hurricanes and need good homes

I love when they think you can't see them and they swat at you walking by.

Re: Kittens??

If you're looking for a kitty .. you should seriously consider adopting one from one of the many rescue organizations that put kitties up for adoption in local Petcos & Petsmarts .. the organizations make sure the kitties are all taken care of in terms of shots .. and spaying & neutering.. etc.

I know kitties have different personalities .. and some are better at being trained .. and some are very picky about what they will learn, and what they will not .. but our guy has learned to use his clawing post, and only his clawing post .. HUGE achievement!! (We feel the same way about declawing as you do).

Re: Kittens??

Please please please do not de-claw your cat!!! it is sooooooooo sad!!! :(

(i'm not an animal freak, just a cat lover, and feel so bad that one of our cats was declawed very early on, and our second one was not... we would NEVER de-claw a cat again!!)... :( it's a horiable procedure.. (I won't get into it here! ha ha)
