So I want to thank all of you again for your prayers. Gus DOES have FIV (feline HIV basically), but it is nowhere near as bad as feline leukemia. The vet said that other than his anemia, which he can get medicine for, he is fine. Cats can live a full life with the disease, but I am going to get my other babies tested at intervals just to be sure.

Is he going to be put on Interferon? That's what Helmut takes, and he's been going strong for many years!

They didn't tell me the name of the meds, but I'll check it out when I get it! Thanks for sharing that though, it gives me hope

You're welcome - I like to let people know that because most people hear that FIV is like a death sentence... it's really not, at least not all the time that's for sure. With proper meds and care, they can live long and happy lives. Helmut takes 1.2 ml of interferon every other week. (7 days on, 7 days off). He was diagnosed in 2004, I think. And he's 12 1/2 years old. I am sure Gus will be fine, especially since you are such a great and caring mommy to him!
