I called Kleinfeld Bridal to make an appointment and they took all of my information and then said we will need a credit card number from you incase you don't show up for your appointment or you don't cancel within 48 hours. I said are you kidding me and she responded by saying well you can see that appointments are hard to come by and you will be charged $50 in the event that you don't show up or cancel within 48 hours. I told her I didn't need to bothered by that and hung up on her. Are they nuts???????

I got my gown at Kleinfelds and I absolutely love it there. I gave them my credit card to hold my appointment without a second thought, because they have the best selection of gowns. Besides, if you're making the appointment, shouldn't you plan on going and not being a no-show anyway? JMO

I got my dress at Kleinfelds and went back several times.. I don't remember having to leave CC info.. and some restaurants you need to do the same when you make a reservation for like 6 or more people-- I guess I did not think anything of it.. part of living in NYC.

Re: Kleinfeld
Yeah, I went to Kleinfield. FH called for me and made the appointment and when he told me about having to leave his CC #, I was like wow. But then again, I made sure that I was on time for that appointment.

I think it's ridiculous to charge someone if they don't show up for an appointment. What if something came up or the person got sick, they have to pay a charge for things happening? That's just crazy.... JMO

Lots of other types of companies do this too...like hotels. If something for real happened (besides just not going), I'm sure they work something out with you (they're not horrible people, just running a business). I just don't think it's a bad policy for a store that is booked solid everyday. Anyway, it doesn't really matter...if you don't want to go there, I'm sure you'll find a beautiful dress that you want someplace else...which is totally cool. I hope you know that I wasn't trying to say anything mean, just that I don't think it's a bad business practice.

I assume there is no appointment needed for simply going there to purchase a dress you know you want?
ETA - My dentist and doctor have this policy if no cancellation is made within 24 hours.
No, you can't just go to Kleinfelds without an appointment.

No not at all...I didn't think you were being nasty or anything. It's hard to read a 'tone' in a message, lol

Re: Kleinfeld
Well that would bother me for one reason only. Let's say I show up for my appointment on time and I can't find a damned thing I liked so I leave. Now, they have my CC# and charge it whenever they want for whatever reason. I don't think that is acceptable. And as soon as I heard I'd need to leave cc information, I would have done the same, and HUNG UP!

Wow. Sounds very exclusive. You can't even just call them up to order a dress?
Now I wanna go too.

Re: Kleinfeld
i decided not to go after i spoke with soneone on the phone and got the same request for a cc. And she was snotty about it. It's nonsense as far as i am concerned. I know they are supposed to be 'the best' but that just further enforces my conclusion that they are so damn full of themselves!
They should hold the appointment for 15 minutes and then drop it if they are so concerned with no shows - the credit card thing is a turn off and says alot about how they see their customers - as $$$$$$$$$$$.
