Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??

I've been to Kleinfeld twice (once looking for myself and more recently looking for a friend), I only traveled from Queens and I don't think it was worth the trip. It really feels like a bride factory. It gets so crowded that you are bumping into girls with wedding dresses on left and right. If you go there for a trunk show, you don't even really get to see all the dresses in the show because there are like twenty dressing rooms working and most of the dresses are girls' dressing rooms making it almost impossible to see all of the designer's stuff, which is the whole reason you would go to a show to begin with. The staff both times was friendly and helpful, but I just don't like the atmosphere there and the prices were the same as anywhere else except they seemed less willing to give you a good discount. I got twenty percent knocked off my dress at the Wedding Salon, when I was at Kleinfeld they wouldn't give me anywhere close to that amount.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??

I went once for a sample sale. I did not like any of the dresses really. Some were just tacky. I think some people really just want to say they got a Vera Wang gown or whatever. After I went there, I went to David's Bridal to get the dress I really liked.

I was also pissed b/c my FI's mother and my friend came into the dressing room with me with the salesgirl as well, and the salesgirl was having me undress for the dresses, and I was like 'I'm really uncomfortable changing in front of everyone' and said it a couple times, but the salesgirl just ignored me. I just wanted to cry. If I had the skirt you wear underneath on, it wouldn't be so bad, but I had a thong on, and I didn't know I'd be changing in front of everyone.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??

I went there and wasn't too happy. I fell in love with a Christos dress and they quoted me $3600 (still too much for me). I told them that I had seen that dress on the knot and it was quoted for approx. $3000. The lady then left the dressing room and said she would go on the knot's website and check it out herself. She came back and told me I was wrong and that the dress is a $3600 dress!!! After checking the very same dress at a few stores I was quoted between $3000 and $3200. Turns out I WAS right!!!!!! I never went back after that.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??

I got my dress there while they were having a trunk show and it was a little busy, but I told my saleswoman, Sadie, who was GREAT, the dress I wanted to try on and she would go and get it for me. They had so many helpers running around to get dresses for you. I brought pictures with me of dresses that I wanted to try on and found it to be VERY helpful, they just took the picture and were off and running finding it for me! I got a discount because it was a trunk show, and I also got a discount because I listened to a guy selling us their new event services they are starting up. I had such a great time, they are really helpful and it's such an experience.

ETA: I had a 9:00 appointment on a Saturday, and I think that was the best, and Sadie told me to always get there in the morning, there wasn't any traffic, and I got in right away because it was emptier, it was so packed when I left, and didn't get rushed out of there.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??

I honestly think your experience at Kleinfeld's totally depends on who you have helping you. The woman I met with was not very helpful and gave the impression that I was putting her out of her way by asking to see more gowns. When I showed her a picture of the gown I had tried on elsewhere and wanted to see again, she said, after looking up the style number, 'Oh, we don't have this dress, it's too common a style!' I was soooo angry and left shortly after that. I did eventually buy that dress, elsewhere.

I got my dress from there. The service is absolutely impeccable!! The people are all professional and help you find the dress you are looking for - They DO NOT Rush you which is wonderful and when you make an appointment - there attention is fully on you - it may be more expensive - but its definitely work the money! Good Luck

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??

It is sooooooooo worth the trip They have gowns that on one else has plus many of the names you know in bridal do exclusive designs just for them . The gentelman that now owns it cannot do enough to help. It is now a wonderful experience and so amazing to deal with. Everyone in that store is so helpful in helping you pull together the perfect look for your day. By all means go, go, go and have fun.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??

Kleinfelds is definitely worth the trip! To me the experince of going to try on dresses and having people make a big deal over me was important. I didn't want to go somewhere where there were other brides trying on dresses next to me and there were people all around. At Kleinfelds they make you feel like royalty. A few extra bucks to me is worth it for the amazing experince. Oh and the selection is unbelievable!

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??

I think Kleinfeld's is good especially if you are looking for a high end dress.

A friend of mine went there & just told them what she was looking for. She tried on dresses she liked & asked them NOT to tell her the price.

The dress she fell in love with was Amsale and it was $15,000!!!

But she had no complaints about the service.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??

Let me just clarify the deposit for the appt. You have 48hours before to cancel. If you are a noshow, then your credit cards gets charged.

Im going next Saturday. I have nothing to lose. But if I do find a dress there, I dont look forward to hauling in there for the alterations, but if the price is right, i have to weight the good vs. the bad.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??

It depends on your budget. The places is beautiful adn the service is great- at least for me I had Keisha (she is fantastic). But you have to expect to spend at least $2500 + on a dress.
