This Nov. I am taking a trip into the city in search of The DRESS!!!! I am making an appointment at Kleinfelds and was wondering if any ladies out here have gone there for their dress----how is the service and is there any one specific I should work with. Any advice or info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Re: Kleinfelds
I bought my dress from Kleinfeld and I can't say enough about them. The service was excellent..I highly recommend Audrey. She was the sweetest! I am going to go back there in a month or so and pick out my tiara and veil. Good luck!!

Re: Kleinfelds
To be honest, I had an appointment with Kleinfelds, but was not crazy about them. They make you give them your credit card to make an appointment (they will charge you $50 if you don't show up), tell you over the phone that their least expensive dress is $1500 (as though they don't want you to even bother coming if you are not looking to spend at least that much) and just gave me an overall feeling of snooty-ness.
After being asked how much I wanted to spend, the sales girl ended up having me try on a dress that was about $3000 out of my price range and told me the price AFTER I tried it on and fell in love with it. I didn't appreciate that kind of sales.
But I have heard that a lot of brides love the place, so good luck!

Bring a camera and take pictures if you can. If you end up going to many stores you will forget what the dresses look like.

Re: Kleinfelds
I honestly can't remember who I worked with, but I got my dress there for under 2k. just ask them if you can look at the dresses in the room where they keep the 'under 2k' dresses. i wound up buying a sample so i took it home that day, but after it gets altered and cleaned, it'll look like new.

I went there and had a great experience as well.
However, they don't allow you to take pics in the dress until after you purchase it.

Re: Kleinfelds
To be honest, I HATED Kleinfelds. I went there a couple of times b/c they do have a good dress selection - BUT....they pressured me each time to buy a dress on the spot. They were not very customer service friendly and they are SO much more expensive than other bridal salons. I ended up buying my dress for $400 less at another boutique for the same dress I saw at Kleinfelds. AND, I know I saved even more $$ b/c the place I got my dress at through in a veil for free and was a lot less expensive for alterations....
If you are looking for a dress place in NYC, try the Designer Loft on W37th st. I loved that place!! The owner is amazing....She will choose dresses that flatter you and she has such a great eye for style. Her selection is not as broad as Kleinfelds, but every dress in her boutique is amazing...And all different price ranges.
Go to Kleinfelds to get an idea for what you want, but I would not recommend buying your gown there.

Re: Kleinfelds
I'm heading into Kleinfelds in 2 weeks and I was a bit turned off when they told me about the credit card and the prices of their dresses. Honestly, I am going there to look and find what style of dress I like...they have a large selection so I figured that would be a great place to start.
Hope you have fun on your appointment! I can't wait for mine- although I'm nervous I'm gonna freak out since this is my first dress trying-on experience and I've been engaged now for almost a year!!!

Re: Kleinfelds
this is a late reply but I just want to let you know about my shopping expereince there. just a warning -- be a smart shopper, know your numbers.
The sales lady tried to push a dress at me and it turns out it was the same dress i tried on else where with a price difference of $1500! She then dragged the sales manager to me and started the negotiating the price acting like she can help me out. When I told her that I tried on the same dress elsewhere for 1500 less, the sales manager gave me a nasty look, turned her back and walked away from me! Then i was bullied into calling the other place (i had to call them through 411 too) to confirm the price, and when I got the confirmation that it was indeed that much cheaper, the kleinfeld people said to me 'if they are giving you this dress for that amount, I suggest you go there instead.'
I couldnt believe the rudeness! I think the kleinfeld people just make up their numbers as they go and force you to fall in love with 'the dress'-- that way you'll be willing to pay an insane amount for it.

Re: Kleinfelds
I am thinking about going to kleinfelds and i love reading the good, but im nervous about the bad reviews. I think its very early to buy anything yet, but the reason i wanted to go to kleinfelds is the designers i was looking at, it sells on their websites that they are only sold at kleinfelds, is this true???

Re: Kleinfelds
it is true of certain designers - though there are some other higher end stores that carry those types of designers as well

Re: Kleinfelds
If any of you are interested even though it's a hike, I got my dress at Bridal Garden in NJ. It's in South Jersey but they have a lot of the same designers as Kleinfeld, and you don't pay tax. They were also so helpful and there was no pressure or deposits to hold an appointment. FM me if you want more info.
