Has any of you ladies gone to Kleinfeld's for your dress? I called to make an appointment and was kind of turned off that (1) I needed to give my credit card # b/c they charge if you cancel under 48 hours and (2) because they told me upfront that all dresses cost $1800 and above. They also wouldn't tell me over the phone if they had the dress I was looking for. Is this the norm? ( Just started looking for dresses).

I felt the same EXACT way when I called them. I was completely disgusted by the way the receptionist handled my call, I had questions and she really didnt want to answer them. So i just told her I'd take my business elsewhere...But I know girls that have great experiences, so everyones different!

I understand how you feel - but go there! I got my dress there too and they were amazing! I was kind of turned off myself at first because the first thing my saleswoman said to my mom and I was 'How much do you want to spend?' I was like...I don't know it's my wedding dress. But - I understand because they won't show you $5000 dresses if you can only afford $3000 - why get all excited and fall in love if you can't afford it!!!

Re: Kleinfeld's
I bought mine there and worked with Sarah, she was sooo nice, not pushy and seriously let me try on as many dresses as I wanted. I went on a Friday I think when it was less busy, but I got one on one attention and it was the best dress shopping experience I had, out of all the places I went. I told her my price range and she let me go in a room that had dresses with those prices and I asked to see a few Romona Keveza dresses that werent in that room and she brought them all out for me. Bring photos if you have them! I highly recommend Kleinfelds!

Do they discounts their dresses? I know the Bridal Building does, but they won't tell me if they carriy her dresses.

Re: Kleinfeld's
A sample sale will definitely have discounted prices! You might luck out! Also, if you love a dress that isnt on sale you can always call around and see if another place sells it for less and bring that price back to Kleinfelds. I got my dress for 15% off, which is over $500 because another store told me they would give me that price. I called tons of stores in the tri-state area for a lower price! haha

Re: Kleinfeld's
I got my dress there and can't rave enough about them. Sorry that the policy is like that about having to giving a CC# but alot of places are doing that now, i had to do that with a restaurant 2 weeks ago. When icalled though the girl was very helpful and answered a bunch of my stupid questions.. However, i didnt ask for particular dresses over the phone. Here is why they might've not told you, see Kleinfelds has more samples in their store than any other place, at least 1500 dresses...all the dresses are in a back room in this huge room, theres even racks on the ceiling with the moveable racks like at the dry cleaners. The receptionist seriously has NO idea exactly which samples they have in. For her to tell you she would have to leave the desk and go to the back which she probably cant do and would honestly take a while to go through every dress. Its not like the dresses are out in the store right by them...infact the reception area is right when you walk in, its a lounge with couches and all. Then theres the main floor and the dresses that are out there are just a few, usually dresses of whatever designer is having a trunk show that week and just a few others...Then you have a long hallway with rows of dressing rooms and then the dresses are all the way in the back. Also, she told you what the dresses start at to give people a heads up...alot of ppl dont want to spend more than that so its good for them to know ahead of time instead of being surprised.
If you make an appt ask for Judith Lerner to help you, that woman is a doll and knows her stuff...She even was trying to convince me to spend less money so obviously not snotty. She went above and beyond and really helped me

is it a sample sale or trunk show...Usually if its 1 designer its a trunk show...sample sales are numerous designers.
At a trunk show dresses are 15% off...sample sale you get alot more of a discount

When I first started my gown shopping the first place I visited was Kleinfelds. They did not ask me for my credit card #, but Bridal Reflections did and that turned me off. They did tell me dresses started at a certain price and they did ask me what kinds of designers I was interested in. That is normal dont worry but I didnt know that they take peoples CC info, maybe that is something new???

Re: Kleinfeld's
I got my dress at at Kleinfeld sample sale and had a great experience. The lady that helped me was fantastic. She even told me not to bother getting my veil there (the one I tried on w/the dress) because it was too expensive, that I could find the same veil or similar for much cheaper. I loved that.

Re: Kleinfeld's
It is so funny because I hear so many mixed reviews about kleinfelds ALL THE TIME!!! I got my dress there as did my sister last year. When my sister went we had an AMAZING experience!!! When i went...not so much. The girl that helped us was not bringing out ANYTHING that i wanted and honestly I said to my mom that if my sister hadn't gotten her dress there i wouldn't have gone back. BUT the next time i went the other girls that work there were AMAZING and soooo helpful. Mostly everyone you come in contact with is very helpful there but long story short...do NOT get turned off my one or two employees that may seem a little rude or upfront with you. They have been in business for years and they are a very reputable company which is why i wanted to go there as well!!! Good luck and def make an appointment!!!!! It is worth it to find the perfect dress!
