Kleinfeld's

Has any of you ladies gone to Kleinfeld's for your dress? I called to make an appointment and was kind of turned off that (1) I needed to give my credit card # b/c they charge if you cancel under 48 hours and (2) because they told me upfront that all dresses cost $1800 and above. They also wouldn't tell me over the phone if they had the dress I was looking for.
Is this the norm? ( Just started looking for dresses).
