Some one told me that kleinfelds' gowns are more expensive then other places.
They said to find it there and buy somewhere else.
What were some of Your experiences?
Thanks guys!

Re: kleinfelds Experience
My dress from Kleinfeld's was a trunk show sample - I got it for half price. Usually, dresses there are very expensive. (Which is why I highly recommend sample sales and trunk shows!)
ETA: They gave me my veil for free too! (When I bought my tiara.)

Re: kleinfelds Experience
I found my dress there was retailing for the same price as it was at another shop. Once the girl found out I had seen the dress at another shop she offered to knock off 15% the price. I still wasn't sure, so she threw in the veil for free. I was sold and ended-up having a great experience. Their alterations are really expensive, but, IMO, well worth it. My dress fit perfectly!

Re: kleinfelds Experience
We went to Saks in the morning and Kleinfelds that afternoon -
I ended up trying on many of the identical dresses at Kleinfelds that I had on that morning.
I found that EVERY dress I tried on was anywhere from $200-$1000 MORE at Kleinfelds than they were at Saks (which really surprised me).
Kleinfelds - DID tell me if I could verify what saks was selling it for they would match the price and add 5% BUT they were not willing to send it to another state to get rid of the tax. (Sak will send your dress to the NJ Short Hills store to save you the tax) - Plus if you open an account with them then they take an additional 10% off - so I thought that was a good deal.

In my experience, you can almost always find your gown cheaper elsewhere, either in price or cheaper alterations, unless you're buying your gown at one of their sample sales or trunk sales.
I brought my girlfriend there, she found a gown she loved, went home and found it for $800 less elsewhere, when you calculate alteration expense.

Re: kleinfelds Experience
Kleinfeld's beat the price of my gown by a considerable amount of money, and offered additional discounts on top in order to make the sale. If they think you will go somewhere else, they'll cut the price.
But, you will always pay $400 alteration fee no matter what you need done to your gown, and it's worth every single penny. You are paying for peace of mind, the princess treatment, and the best alterations anywhere...which IMO is more than worth it when it comes to your wedding gown.

I'm going to a sample sale there next month! I am not doing alterations there if it costs $400.

I don't know about comparing their prices to someone else's, BUT, I did go there this past Tuesday and thought they were pretty reasonably priced with some of their dresses.. I thought everything would've been really expensive but it wasn't.

Yes, they definintely are. If you find something you like, make sure and tell them you saw it someplace else (like another big name bridal store...or even better...a neighborhood bridal store) cheaper. They matched their price and threw in a 10% 'coupon' for me, which offset the cost of the alterations.
Also, if you know anyone that lives in Jersey, they'll ship the dress there and you'll save on tax. (which is a lot when you are spending a couple thousand on a gown) You just bring the gown in when it arrives, and they store it until alteration time.

Re: kleinfelds Experience
I went to a sample sale at Kleinfeld's but did not buy a dress there. However, I did try on a dress that I was considering buying that wasn't part of the sample sale and they indicated to both me and my mom that we could negotiate on the price. I haven't seen the particular dress anywhere else so, I don't know if there was a price difference or not.

Re: kleinfelds Experience
I went there and found them to be significantly higher in price and $400 for alterations is a little much. I ended up at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa and couldn't be happier and with $200 alterations! To each is own
