FMIL told me it's bad luck to receive knives as a gift. What is bad luck about it?

I have never heard of this! And FMIL got us our knife set as a shower gift!!! UH OH!!!

Forgive me for pointing this out, but anyone who gives you a knife as a 'gift' blade first is basically trying to kill you or make you cut yourself, so of course it's bad luck, no?

i am shocked!!!!!!!!!!! i thought his family for sure would have pointed that out
you were supposed to give a penny oh well, give it to them in their thank you card LOL
