Krispy Kreme NOT honoring pricing I was given

Krispy Kreme NOT honoring pricing I was given

So I called about 2 months ago to the corporate office of Krisy Kreme (way before they started advertising on LIWeddings). I thought that giving Krispy Kremes in my hotel welcome baskets was a nice idea. After speaking with a very nice women in the corp. office I decided to give them as favors instead. They gave me a price and the option to pack them in either 2-4-6 per box. I was told the min. order was 50 dozen but she had that lowered for me to 25 dozen. That would give me 150 2-packs. Perfect I thought! The nice women told me that since my wedding is in Nov. I could wait a few months to place my order.
I am not a wait till the last minute type person and wanted to cross it OFF of my to-do list so I called this week. It turns out the prices are all different now I don't just mean different I mean DOUBLE Instead of the orginal quote of $6.50 per dozen, boxed anyway I wanted and a $25 delivery fee, they now want to charge me $2.00/2-pack! Well I was upset and asked her to speak to a manager. I mean, I was quoted a very different price. She called me today to say that they will give me the donuts for $8.50/dozen. WTH. They quote me a price, tell me to wait because I am so early, then restructure the program and up my price! My FH wasn't that crazy about spending money on donuts before this, now I will have to try to butter him up to the idea even more. Am I wrong here?

Not at all...did they give you the quote in writing???..b/c then they have to honor that...if not try to push as much as you can...they still may not budge though

They did not give me anything in writing because the women said I was still so early. What do I do? Do I pay the increase or not do this on principle? I hate being treated this way!!!

I think that is terrible that they did this to you, and sounprofessional for a company that size. I know it is stressful to have to deal with changing your plans and looking for another favor idea, but in my opinion, I would probably not do business with them just for the principle. But of course, that is your call. If you really want to go with them, I would still try to fight it out with them and get the best pricing you can.

I am sorry that you are having such a hard time with Krispy Kreme. The woman should have never quoted a price on the phone and told you to hold off on ordering if the price was subject to change.

Personally, I do not think that I would choose to do business with them out of principle. I would be annoyed that I had planned to spend a certain amount of money on favors and then without warning, the amount increased by 50 dollars.

If you have your heart set on the Krispy Kreme favors though, I would haggle with them to get the best price. Good luck

I think it is wrong that they did that to you but there really isn't all that much you can do. Although I would defiatly call and give them a hard time. Sometimes the people that speak the loudest are the ones that get what they want. Good Luck!

I also would not order from them. If you do order from them, I would send them a letter stating what happened and how you speak with hundreds of brides on different websites and will let them know your story and how the extra $xx they insisted on make off you, will probably cost them more money than that in the long run. Use the power of the internet in your favor.

I did something similar when my invitations got messed up and the company credited me for half of the difference. Company's hate getting a bad rep, so it's worth a try!

Thanks for the support girls. I will call them when I work from home on Friday. I am going to ask to speak to a manager about this. I just feel that it is unfair not to honor my orginal quote. Lesson for all of us- NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY GET THE QUOTE IN WRITING! If I had done that they would have no chose but to honor it.

This really is horrible because we all spend so much on our weddings. But kind of in their defense and please don't get mad with me, we had the same thing happen in our company. People would call for quotes and we would give them the current pricing. If they wanted the quote in writing we would supply it but it had a disclaimer (quote good for only 30 days). Well one day we were told that the prices had increased (considerable because of supply problems out of our control). When people called to place orders we had to inform them of the increase. They weren't happy but there was nothing we could do. I really don't think any company wants to increase their pricing and tick off a potentcial customer/client. Anyway, my $.02.

Screw them. I was going to use them bc of the prices you had told us about earlier. I say we boycott.....

It's hard because we KNOW that we should get everything in writing but it's not our nature, or mine anyway, to think that people won't keep their word.

If you really want the krispy kremes, I would try discussing it with a manager and see what happens.

Good luck!

Re: Krispy Kreme NOT honoring pricing I was given

I will call them on Friday (when I work from home and can argue more easily) and let you all know what they say. I understand about quotes timing out, but this was never even discussed. I was told I was still very early and not to worry about it. And the women was so helpful and nice to me. Again, business is business- I should have gotten it in writing! I will keep you all up to date. Thanks for backing me.
Christine- I am not upset at all about what you said. I understand supply problem cause increases but this is not the case here. They are doing target bridal market now (just look at liweddings.com as an example) and that is why they changed their prices.

Re: Krispy Kreme NOT honoring pricing I was given

More info on my drama- I called the local Krisy Kreme agent- since they advertise on liweddings.com now I just called the number given. Well Monica was super duper helpful! She was very upfront that the prices have been raised but that she would honor my verbal quote from the corporate office! She, of course, said that she cannot honor the old prices for new brides but I totally understand that. She is being very helpful and offered to let us doing a 'tasting' to decide on which varieties to pick. So saga, ended. Thanks for ALL of your help and support girls! (and yes, I mentioned how active I am on the wedding boards and my friends thought I was being treated unfairly)
