so one of my FGs is receiving her first holy communion the week before the wedding. my godmother (her mom) emails me to see if we can make it. part of me wants to say yes, because it will give us a day off from worrying, another says no because i'll be too busy doing last minute stuff. what would you do?

Re: KWR: would you say yes?
ehhh that's a tough one bc it's one of your FG's as opposed to like ... a non FG lol. If it were me I'd probably make the effort to go, at least for part of it.

I would go. Even if you can't stay the whole time, just to show up for a bit shows that you atleast wanted to be there.

I would go. You know far enough in advance that you can plan your last minute things around it.

I would tell them that you would love to be there but right now you can't commit to anything that close to the wedding. Something along those lines.

Re: KWR: would you say yes?
I would def go to the communion-even if its just the church part, ask her whens the latest that you can let her know about the hall because there maybe things that you need to do for the wedding.
a week before my wedding there was a huge snow storm-i was stuck at home and couldnt do anything even if i wanted(but there wasnt really much to do). it wasnt a big deal and the wedding went on.

I would go. It'll get your mind off the stress for a day, and like Colleen said, you have enough notice to plan.

I would just go, you have enough notice that you can plan to not do anything major wedding related that day, ya know?

Re: KWR: would you say yes?
UPDATE:
i emailed my godmother, i said we're 99% sure we'll be there and that i'll know better a little closer. apparently 'extended' family is not invited to the church, i was only told about the party afterwards

ooohhh...yeah that makes sense the church usually only allows immediate family becasue it gets really crowded...id say go to the party and leave early if you have to
