FH and I are looking to join a gym. I wanted some opinions about LA Fitness (mostly the one in Lake Success / New Hyde Park, but will welcome Farmingdale opinions too!) and NYSC (the ones in East Meadow, & Garden City)
if you have any info on $$ for memberships that would be great too. FM me if you don't want to post.
I have heard a LOT of great things about the LA Fitness in Lake Success, but have heard good things about NYSC in East Meadow too!
I have 143 days to loose like 7-10 more pounds and tone my stomach ! ! !

I belong to NYSC, but go in Queens and Manhattan. I love it b/c there are so many locations that I can use. Not sure if that's a plus for you though. Cost is around $80/month.

NYSC is definitely worth the money for convenience (you can go to any of their clubs) and their classes! Not to mention, cardio machines are hooked up to personal TVs!

im paying i think 32 a month (in florida) for LA Fitness and it includes all of the classes.. machines are really clean and new too. i recommend however the gym at the roosevelt field mall. i think it might be 39 bucks a month, brand new, top of the line, spas, salons, etc. its the best gym i've ever seen in my entire life!

i go to LA Fitness in lake success and i love it, i used to go to nysc and it was EXPENSIVE...I pay $49 a month at LA its HUGE there are great classes and allot of cardio machines u can go even at busy hours and you'll always get one, they have 2 basketball courts and 10 raquet ball courts and a pool also they are open 24hours from monday to thursday. Hope that helps

I go to NYSC and I go to both Garden City and East Meadow. I like garden City better b/c it has more of the machines I like but East Meadow is not so bad either. I have not been to LA fitness but there isn't so many of them and that is why I didn't join it b/c sometimes I go to woodmere, whiteplains, whitestone, port jeff, or oceanside depending where I am. I am a gym hopper :) My friend goes to LA fitness and likes it. I pay 72 dollars a month or something like that. I think sometimes it is worth it b/c we visited the bally's around here and it was sooooooooo dirty! I am not a clean freak so when I find a place dirty it really bothers me! if you have ? you can fm me!

LA fitness is cheaper, I think NYSC is $70 something a month. I'm a member of LA fitness and it's $49 a month and the gym is great! They just expanded it too.

Have been to both...NYSC is going down hill IMO..Used to belong to the one in Garden City...the machines were always out of order and not clean! I was constantly getting letters that my rates were going up!
Joined LA Fitness last year...so far it has been great (have not been in a while though) much cheaper than NYSC. I think you get more for your $$$ there!
