Lace dress- white or ivory?

Lace dress- white or ivory?

So I am ordering my dress tomorrow and I'm so excited because I LOVE it!!! It is a maggie sottero, all lace, sweetheart neckline, corseet back, and form fitting (not sure what it is called, but i know it is not a mermaid)But I need some advice..
I have always wanted a white dress, no if, ands or buts haha.. However, the sample is in ivory. The lady at the store told me lace looks better in ivory and that white lace can sometimes look cheap.
So, now I don't know what color i should order. The ivory dress is so pretty and it's not a dark ivory but I've always wanted a pure white dress.
I'm so unsure on what to order!

What do you girls think, does white lace look cheap?

First of all, your dress sounds EXACTLY like mine! :). I think it really depends on your skin tone, I certainly wouldn't say that white lace looks cheap though!. However, I know that because I am so pale, I don't look good in white at all and it really washes me out, so I ordered my dress in ivory!.

Before you purchase it why not call around and see if another bridal salon carries it in white? That way you can try it on and see if you even like it on yourself in white.

I think Ivory lace is so pretty! Besides most of the time unless you're next to another person in white you wouldn't be able to tell the dress is ivory and not white :)

It's true its hard to tell with lace...when i went dress shopping, all the lace dresses I tried on turned out to be ivory when I kept thinking it was white...I love the ivory lace though! It's so pretty

ivory is best for lighter complextions - white for darker. you might find white washes you out completely.

This but I would call around and see if you can find the dress in the white ivory....I wouldn't take a chance and order the color without seeing it first. Also, white lace is classic not cheap!!

I agree I think you should order based on your skin tone. I am very pale and white white looks terrible on me, so I went ivory. Maybe ask to try on a different lace dress in white, so you can see how the color will look on you.

I personally LOVE the look of ivory lace, but I would try both on just for your own piece of mind!

I had this same problem with my dress but its not lace. However I pictured myself in white and when I tried on the dress they told me it was diamond white so its not a stark white. I say go with the ivory. Does it look amost white?

Probably the ivory. White is usually so stark it washes most people out.

THANK YOU!! for all your advice ladies!
i ordered the dress in white, i have more of an olive skin tone so i dont think the white will wash me out.. atleast i hope not. Had my heart set on a white dress and i love lace, so a white lace dress it is! i like the comment that 'white is classic, not cheap' .. made me feel a lot better about ordering in white
Thanks again!
