Ladies - can anyone recommend a hall......

Original post by akaMrsT

After 20 places (for me and 17 for FI) we have decided to check out Brooklyn halls. We have covered a ton of LI halls (Nassau & Suffolk). This whole process is just insane.

The places we like are really far out and I'd be annoyed just driving out to pay deposits. I have horrible road rage.

So far we like Giorgio's, Villa Lombardi's (although they have a garden theme roon & too many rules), Fox Hollow (Garden Terrace room & outdoor ceremony but close to traffic), North Ritz Club (okay decor) and Jericho Terrace (which has no outdoor ceremony space).

Anyone know of any elegant Brooklyn halls with an outdoor ceremony area for about 150 guests.

We know about Buckleys (don't like the decor), Grand Prospect (need about 200+ to make the place look full) and the Botanical Gardens ($$$$).

If only we could take the things we like from each hall and incorporate them i.e., the gardens from Majestic Gardens but at Jericho Terrace.

Price is a factor and we do not want to go over $75 pp++. We are still aiming for 10/2005 and were surprised that some places still have Saturdays open.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks ladies. I just spoke to my sister (in VA) and we came to the conclusion that VA won't work for me. I did not like the halls we checked and some require odd catering practices (i.e. putting entree selections on the rsvp).

We also determined that a destination wedding won't allow my must have guests to make it Not all of them fly (or do cruise ships). FI & I could always go off alone but I would not be happy with no friends/family around.

So, it is still a NY plan.

I had my reception in Brooklyn but the place I had it in doesn't have a place for outdoor ceremonies. They accomodate indoor ceremonies though. The food was excellent and the price was reasonable. I had been to several weddings there before my own and everybody always raves about the food and service! Its called Sirico's and its located in Dyker Heights. Garguilo's is also in Brooklyn but I don't think they do outdoor ceremonies though either. I went to a wedding at the Brooklyn Botantical Gardens. It was beautiful but very pricey.. Good luck!

I'm doing my wedding in Brooklyn, but I'm using a Jewish temple which might not work for you.

Here are some places I had checked out:
Rievera. (On Stillwell Ave.)
Really really nice. 1 wed. at a time. Comes out to about $105 per person though. Also, they do ceremonies outside, and the garden is beautiful (smaller then on pics though). However, I thought the walkway was too short and the seats are arranged all over the garden instead of in rows.

There's also Oriental Mannor (I think that's what it was called). It's on 18th Ave and 86th st. The big room was very nice, but they don't hold ceremonies outside.

Sirico's was very pretty too and within the budget.

Here is some advice I got from other girls here on LIwed while I was doing my search:
- Sans Souci (not in Brooklyn, but not too far)
- Rex Manor
- Micali Terrace (a bit old)
- Bay Ridge Manor
- Giando on the Water (food looks plain, but tastes good)
- Russo's on the Bay (Queens)
- Gennaro's
- Ariana Waterfall (not Brooklyn)
(almost all of the above are from FLaCaTaCa)

I've heard good things about riviera, buckley's and el caribe.

In queens there's astoria world manor
terrace on the park

and western nassau there's stewart manor CC (heard great things, we were going to look thre, but fell in love with NRC) and floral terrace

also, verdi's of whitestone..

Good Luck

As far as payments and deposits go, we just sent in our 2nd hall deposit with online billpay! NRC was really really good about it! Also, they're really good about letting you bring in and rearrange whatevber you want, since the place is yours for the day

Look at the Stewart Manor Country Club (www.stewartmanor.com) The site gives the menu and everything else that's included. They have a gazebo suitable for ceremony and pictures. Great food and service. We paid $65pp, but that was 2 years ago. I honestly don't think it's gone too much higher. Ours was there, and we loved it!!! Speak to James. He was great to work with.

Good luck,
Donna

I still recommend the Woodbury CC. I know it's not one wedding, but at the most it's two and the outside ceremony space is beautiful. Good luck, I know this is frustrating.

have you looked at crest hollow country club? they have a nice ceremony area and a lot of garden areas, and you can have a poolside cocktail hour. it's a big place, but it seems to fit what you are looking for. good luck!

Try the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. I don't know much about it but I think they do weddings there. Just a thought.

Just walk away from this one lol. The pricing is out of this world plus there is a site fee.

i know that you have tried a ton of places on long islad - but have you looked into/at the harbor club ---- it seems to meet your criterias - one wedding at a time, on the wayer - great place for pics - the walls are almost all wondows so you have a view of the water the whole day - outside cermeony - inside/outside cocktail hour - and it is not that far into suffolk county - easy to get to from the LIE

since not so many girls on here have heard of/getting married there - here are some pics'
