Ladies getting married in a chruch

I know that the church has relaxed on a lot of their rules. I am wondering if this is one of them.

Do our shoulders have to be covered?????

TIA

It all depends on your church, every single church is different. You have to call and check with them first.

It really depends on the church. Call up the rectory and ask.

I never bothered to ask my Deacon but I would be shocked if he said they had to be covered. Last time I spoke to him he told me I didnt have to use the church vows if I didnt want to I thought that you had to.

Thank you ladies

I called the church and spoke to 2 woman in the rectory and they had no clue so I guess that it is not a problem.

We have pre-cana in Mid-May and have to meet with the priest after so i will confirm with him then.

Thanks again

Wow, I've never heard of this rule! I guess my church doesn't follow it or they would have mentioned it by now!! haha

most dresses are strapless now so i would say your safe with that.. but i would call your church just to be sure...Chances are it's not a big deal though!!!

Check with the priest that will be marrying you. Each priest has his own opinions on what is acceptable and what is not.

My Priest said that all BM shoulders should be covered lol...he better not tell me cuz there is no way I am wearing a shawl down the aisle, I will have a 'fingertip' veil so that will somewhat cover my shoulders lol oh well

Getting married in a catholic church and they told me that the veil is enough to cover the shoulders. It is something to keep in mind though when you get bridesmaid dresse. You may not be the only one with bare shoulders that day and the church may take offense to it. Then again, what are they gonna do tell you they're not gonna marry you.
It's more of a respect thing than anything else.
My church actually sent out a bulletin last summer saying that people should dress appropiatly while in church. Shorts and tank tops were not welcomed.
So again, check with your church, they maybe a little more conservative than others.
