Ladies!!! I Don't Know What To DO!!! Please Help!! UPDATE!! at bottom...
My Mom and I are putting together a Bridal Shower for sister, and my mom is paying for the majority of it, as it's her gift to my sister. Well... the problem is out of the 83 people invited (due to the large grooms side) 13 people never RSVP'd on the 3rd which was 4 days ago... THE PROBLEM..... I called the future mother in law, b/c a lot of Aunts didn't RSVP, and I thought, maybe b/c of their age, they forgot, or they just assumed we KNEW they were coming... WELL.... The future mother in law wanted to know how many people declined, so I told her. She gad the audasity (spelling???), or the NERVE to tell me well that she replaced the No's with a couple of people she asked from her job and they ARE coming, With out even asking me. She took it upon her self to invite people, with out an invitation to fill spots... And she's Not even paying for anying.... I'm actually afraid to tell my mom what she did, b/c they did the same thing for my sister's engagement party. My sister is already stressed out, and If I tell my mom, she tell my dad, and he'll go out of his mind, and say something to my sister. But if I don't say anything and my mom finds out that I knew and didn't tell her, she'll be pissed at me!!!! UUUGGGHHHHHHHH!!! What do I do??????

That is a atough one. But I think you need to tell your mom. Don't let her find out at the shower. That would be worse.

I agree. That could potentially ruin the day for her and possibly your sister if she sees that your mom is upset.

It's not even like she invited 1 more person with out asking, she invited 4!!!! I just don't want my sister to stree out any more either....

I would tell your mom so she can address the situation with your sisters FMIL BEFORE the shower. Better now than later. What's she going to do for the wedding Start inviting people off the street to fill in her no's? Squish it now!

You should tell her to call your mother and tell her that she invited some people that were originally not invited. Then we will see how much audacity she has! I hope your mother puts her in her place.

Hey, thats a good idea! You could say that since your mother is keeping track of the invites, she needs to call her so she can get a final count (of course, tell your mom ahead of time so she's prepared!) Ugh!

Wow.. that's rough But I agree with the others... tell your mom. If for nothing else, but to have a total number of people show up and not run out of anything. Sorry for the problems... People just DON'T THINK!!!

Why is it that showers turn people into dummies? I think you need to tell your mom and then try to handle it with the MIL yourself, so your dad doesn't have to get involved.

I would tell your mom. Get it all worked out before the shower. Ask your mom and dad not to tell your sister so she doesn't stress, if you want. But your mom needs to address this with the FMIL. When I threw my sister's Bridal Shower years ago, her FMIL didn't offer to help with RSVPs or money or anything and day of, she was upset that we didn't offer an open bar on alchohol (we just offered wine and soda) and she had the nerve to say, can't you just let my sisters get alchohol on your tab and we won't tell anyone else. Some people just don't get it, so try to alleviate as much of the headaches before the party as possible and you'll all have a better time.

def tell your mom. and you know what, maybe you and your mom can nip this in the bud. you don't want her doing this when it comes to the wedding. don't even tell her who RSVPs 'no' anymore. hmm. . . . But this still needs to be taken care of because if it's HER invitees that rsvp no to the wedding, she may take it upon herself to invite more people again then... which would be bad. ugh.

Thank you All!!!!! I appreciate all of your support and suggestions... UPDATE!!!!!!! I think the mother in law started calling the aunts to tell them to RSVP, B/C Theyr'e CALLLING ME!!! AND the RSVP was 4 Days AGO!! They aren't sure if they will have rides!!!!!! I Really can't wait for this to be over..... OH, I tried calling my mom, buts she's not home.... I swear she's going to hit the ROOF!!!

Totally agree. u need to tell her. FMIL had no business doing that without yours and your moms permission. and to find out at the shower would be deadly.
