key word...developmentally appropriate practice ( dap) it is a STANDARD and the basis of early childhood education. It's a fancy way of doing the right things at the right stage of development. Like obviously a 2 year old would not have the same fine motor development as a 4yr old..I would even suggest buying the dap book..seriously is soooooooooo helpful and i used it in every single one of my education classes. And never say you'll use time out......ever. If they ask what you would do with dicipline always answer that you will discuss class rules and why what they did was wrong. ummm...i'm trying to tink of what else....obviously assisting them and supervising but not 'telling them the answers'...letting them figure things out for themself. AND children learn through play...not ditto sheets.

Awesome...thanks. I notice that the school where I'm interviewing has a large (70%) hispanic population, I'm def going to ask about teaching them some things in Spanish (good thing I took it in HS and college)

If its a 3 year old program know that you can not wipe them! I know it sounds insane but they didnt hire someone i know because one of the questions was if a child soiled her pants and had a change of clotehs waht would you do. She said I would clean them up... BOOM wrong answer...
Obviously they are not going to be writing much so its all about cognitive thinking. Games, songs, word games, etc. For math simple addition, make sure you stress that you want to use manipulatives espesially with that age for not only math but for science.
Hope that helps :)

OOO also, if you check out teacherandtherockbots.com...awesome site, and they have a jr program for younger children...
I am trying to think of what else. The younger ones also learn about community and family. They take alot of pictures. Their stories are usually Colored answers.... etc.... ummmm
Oooo colors are always good. Explain that you will use a color a week and have a Special bag,for ex if its a red bag, inside will be all red things, but things they have to learn... red apple, red plate, red candy, red circle, red triangle, red square, then write the words on a monthly chart. So every day when they walk in they have to wait for the 'Red bag' item. This helps them not only to foccus but it also helps them to recognize the color, and shapes and see it every day. This really worked when I had my little ones...and it was fun too!
