Okay, some background info: I used to be in choir when I was around 11 years old...I became friends with this woman, she was probably twice my age, but we would talk on occasion. When my confirmation came around, I asked her to be my sponsor, since it had to be someone older and involved with church. So she did. That was 10 years ago. I went to her wedding which was about 7 years ago....I am not involved with church anymore and I haven't seen or talked to her in about 3 years ( when there was a death in my family). Now, out of the blue, I get a phone call from here on Friday. She wanted to invite me to her Mary Kay party and wants me to use her for my makeup for the wedding. I said no, I had a previous engagement, blah blah. Fine, I get a call today again saying she wants to get together to do something special before I get married. This comes out of nowhere to me, and I had not planned on inviting her since we haven't spoken in 3 years. I had no intentions of starting this friendship up again, but here she keeps calling and I am sure she is just waiting for the wedding invitation....So, what do I do about this??? I can't be rude and say I don't want to be friends with you anymore, however we are very different, she is older and we have nothing in common, so I really don't want to be friends with her....Any advice?

I had the same rule, except it was within a year. It's been 3 year, why can't people get the hint?

yeah, as for the makeup, you can say you already have someone booked.
As for hanging out, just keep coming up with excuses. If you really don't want anything to do with her, just don't call her back or respond to e-mails or anything. It's terrible, but she'll get the picture.

Yeah, I suppose. I thought I was just being rude, but I guess rude is the only thing that gets through to people like this. I already told her I had someone booked for the wedding-even though I don't!
