OK so my backyard BBQ engagment party is this weekend... Apparently so is hurricane Danny. FML. I would rather switch the place than switch dates. Any suggestions on last minute places? Our food is catered, so I would prefer nice VFW/fire dept/catering halls that restaurants. I need the location somewhere in suffolk county (we were having oiur party in Farmingville, I live in Ronkonkoma, and most of our guests are anywhere from Merrick to Farmingville).
Any help on this situation would be appreciated! TIA!!!

for our backyard e-party we ordered one of those big tents which held under it 8 tables with 10 chairs eachs... and it has the sides that come down.. and lights under it.. i think it was about $800+ tables/and chairs.... you should check that out.. if your not having too many ppl it will work out nice.. then you dont have to move the entire party!

Is there an Elk club near you. There is one in Smithtown if that isn't too far for your guests. I don't think it is too much to rent the hall. HTH

Do you have a tent?
I happen to know a company that has a 40x20 frame tent (the gorgeous high peak ones) with sides and everything available this weekend
There was a change to a party that I'm having at my house and I originally had this date so I'm pretty sure he still has one with sides available for this weekend!
This way you dont have to worry about weather!

There's a VFW in Farmingdale right off the Southern State on Route 109 that we've rented on two occasions that's very reasonable but that may be further than you want to go. It's still Suffolk, but barely!
I think I'd just try to get really big tents and still have it just like you wanted!
Stupid Danny is messing with everyone! FMIL called this morning to tell us that right before Danny (my FH) was Christened there was a Hurricane Danny and now right before our wedding, it strikes again!

Danny is a real pain. He has been giving us a nice headache also. We were going to get a tent, but then the company we're using for called this morning & said they are not installing tents on Saturday b/c the risk of high winds creates a hazard (& PS- it JUST made the measurement requirements) We had Sunday as a raindate so we just postponed it by a day. I hope Danny gets up & outta here really soon. As for VFW Halls.. VFWWEBCOM.org/NY gives you a listing of all halls in the NY area. Do you know anyone who is in the Fire Department- they let family/friends use the house if its available. I know N.Babylon does this (on Belmont Ave.). HTH- Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your help/input. After running to the Hyatt Windwatch we thought about it and my mother called and got the 20x40 tent. It was like $750 for the package. So it looks like the party is still on! And the DJ and the portapotty. I can't help but still feel so bummed right now. We'll just have to wait and see..
I think there is a knights of columbus in bayshore

Hey- Thanks so much! We actually decided to make the more to switch it to Sunday. It turns out it works better all around. Everyone is still able to come, gives my mom & FMIL more time to cook, & the forecast is looking pretty good. Thanks for your help!
