Ladies, please be careful. I was very close to being burned
TWICE in the past few weeks, by 2 different vendors!!!
#1
On Wed Nov 22 (the evening before Thanksgiving), I contacted Coachman limousine by phone after getting their # from LIW vendors section. It turns out the my Dad knew one of the employees, we talked for a while, discussed my needs and his prices, and we left off that he would write up my contract on Friday (the day AFTER Thanksgiving) because it was late and he had to get home to prep for T-day. I said no problem - hey, it was a holiday, i cut the guy a little slack.
I never heard from him on Friday, 11/24. I spoke with my Dad, and he said to give him until Monday, maybe he was swamped when he came back into the office on Fri. I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM on Monday, either! My Dad called the company on Tuesday, and was told that THE EMPLOYEE I WAS DEALING WITH NO LONGER WORKS THERE. He just left without writing up my contract, without even CALLING me as a courtesy.
I started dealing with another employee and after a week of trying to get him to call me back (to no avail!), I finally got in touch with him on Friday evening, 12/8, and was told that they WILL NOT HONOR THE PRICE I WAS ORIGINALLY QUOTED. His price is $250 higher. I asked to speak to the owner, and I was not even given the owners name. The employee I was speaking with told me 'it is pointless to deal with him, he's a harda$$.'
I've since left 3 messages for the owner to call me back, and I have not received a call. I DO NOT PLAN ON BOOKING WITH THESE PEOPLE, and I can't believe what bad business they practiced with me.
Needless to say, Coachman did not rectify the situation to my liking.
I believe Camelot is coming to my rescue, thanks to a recommendation from Penny. Thank you GIRL!

Approximately a month ago, I contacted Scott from The Royal Brass and was interested in booking 2 trumpeters for my church. Scott Mowery was very nice, very accomodating, and a pleasure to talk to. He sent me a contract on 11/24. Upon receipt of the contract, I was a little surprised that the name 'THE ROYAL BRASS' was not anywhere on the contract, and I didn't send in my deposit check (due 1 week after I received the letter...short notice, right?).
I became rather busy with school and work, and let it slide for a couple weeks. Last night, I was browsing LIW vendors section and noted that Scott's name was no longer listed under The Royal Brass. I used the LIW email form to contact The Royal Brass, and received a message from Rodger that Scott is no longer with the company and hasn't been writing contracts for them for about a month now.
Upon further investigation, it appears that the contract that Scott mailed me was NOT BOOKING THE ROYAL BRASS, but rather booking SCOTT as an independent artist. I WAS NEVER MADE AWARE OF THIS!!! I WANT THE ROYAL BRASS, NOT AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST!!! I was deceived into thinking that I *WAS* booking The Royal Brass, but in reality, it was not them.
Rodger was rather surprised, and vowed to do right by me. He really is a doll and I look forward to working with him and THE ROYAL BRASS, not 'Scott Mowery, independent artist'.

In closing, please be careful ladies. Keep your eyes open to anything that looks 'funky' and question it!
We're planning our weddings, vendors are operating their businesses.
