Where is your washer/dryer? Me and FH currently have it in the basement, but are entertaining the idea of moving it upstairs in one of the closets so that when we have kids, we won't have to be running up and down like yoyo's!!
What do you ladies think? Have any of you done this or considered it?

Re: Ladies who have Homes
Ours is in one of the rooms that as converted from the garage to laundry room... then we re-did it and made it a computer room with a couch and tv. The washer/dryer is in a closet. I rather it on the main floor

Re: Ladies who have Homes
Our house is a split so the laundry room is one floor below the main floor but then there is still a basement below that.
We had actually entertained the idea of making a laundry room in the basement and turning the current laundry room into a full bath but the set up of the pipes didn't work out.

It's not a good idea to have them upstairs. They can shake the whole house. It is possible though, Just not the best option. Ours are in the basement. HTH

Ours is upstairs and its just fine. We have a Levit Ranch home so we put it in the bedroom that the fireplace runs through.

Re: Ladies who have Homes
Mine is in a closet next to the backdoor. I love having it right there. But then again we rent out our basement so I don't really have a choice. However, when I lived at home with my mom she and my stepdad put it on the 2nd floor with all the bedrooms and it was a good spot too.

Mines in the basement and i have no indoor entrance so when i need to do laundry i have to go outside in the snow rain cold...
My parents have two sets one in the basement and one on the 2nd floor. My dad made sure they were level and theyre not that loud. Let me tell you, not carting the laundry up two sets of stairs is amazing.

Thanks Ladies!! We're planning on moving it from the basement to the first floor in the closets of one of the rooms. I feel like it makes life so much simpler. Our contrator is gonna give us a price estimate, but he told us it will at least cost you $1k. Which means...it's gonna be more!!!
How much does this crap usually cost?

Mine is in the basement. My sister's both had theirs put upstairs and love it! When we move that is one of the things on the 'new house list'.

Re: Ladies who have Homes
We have our washer and dryer upstairs. It's good because all the bedrooms are upstairs. The only thing I have to bring downstairs is towels and washcloths. The previous owners of the house put the plumbing in upstairs. After the wedding, we're going to close up the washer and dryer in a closet because it's in this huge empty room. The empty room is going to be converted into a huge master bathroom. We only have one bathroom right now and it's downstairs which is annoying.

Its really not hard to do yourself if you know plumbing. My dad did all the pipes in my house.
But any time you hear 1k from a contractor you know its more lol

Re: Ladies who have Homes
Its convenient ... yes, but if there is an issue thats not good. I saw that they sell a plastic bottom that has a lip so if it were to spill over or leak it would go into this receptical and not all over the floor and down onto the floors beneath. I would be worried with having the floor shake. I think there is something nice about having it on the first floor if you have a mud room. My sister has it on her first floor and its IDEAL!
