Ladies with ceremony at hall....e.t.a I think I found a church!!
Original post by GettinHutched
So, the gap between church and reception is just waaaay too unreasonably wide. We might consider ceremony at the hall.
My question is- what do you do about picture taking if you are ADAMANTLY against seeing your FH before the ceremony!!
CLM has ceremony a half hour before cocktail hour starts. UGH. So that means, lose the entire cocktail hour taking pics. Or is it possible to take them quickly and come back for a little bit? I don't wanna miss the boat arrival!
I do have a semi-smallish bridal party. 2 MOH, 2 best men, 3 FG, 1 Jr. Usher. What do you think? I know VEnetian Shores is right there so it's not like we have to go far for pics....is this doable without totally losing the cocktail hour?
THANKS!
ETA: I think we found a church for our date! We just have to meet with the Deacon and make it official!!!
Thank you all soooooo much for your support!!!

So we decided to do pics before our ceremony. We had 3 hours before and 3 different locations for pics! We got SO many amazing shots and I couldn't imagine only having 1/2 hour worth of pics... IMO. Some girls do it and their pics are gorgeous too, but it's totally your call.
Our photographer set my DH up with his back turned behind the mansion at OWG and all our wedding party standing set back from him. When I came around the corner EVERYONE lost it! DH and I cried like I never expected... it was the best feeling and seeing eachother early really calmed us both down for the rest of the day. My photographer caught every shot of us seeing eachother for the first time and those pics are my absolute favorites!
Thank you for sharing that! You totally make a case for it haha! Sounds amazing...and I can imagine it would be. I guess I'm sooo darn traditional about it- I want that moment down the aisle for some reason. Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind. I'm sure it really is just as emotional. You're making me emotional just thinking about it!

We opted to do pics before too, just seems to be not enough time.

Re: Ladies with ceremony at hall....
Ladies,
I think this is a difficult decision and I have pondered it for a long time. My ceremony is in the morning so unlike CaMacho, whose pictures I love, I can't take 3 hrs worth of pictures that early in the AM or I will have to get up and ready at like 4am!
We have decided to take the pictures before hand the ceremony regardless. Keep in mind that you only have one day and that you want the day to last as long as you can. By taking pictures beforehand you stretch out the day....

Re: Ladies with ceremony at hall....
Some people are just not into 3 hours worth of picture taking...I personally would go nuts and so would FH. we are not seeing each other before the ceremony - this is the most important thing to me. While all of your pictures look beautiful of seeing your FH for the first time - I just cannot imagine it and would have it no other way than seeing him for the first time as I walk down that aisle towards him.
It is just a personal preference. I never even heard of people seeing each other before hand until recently to be honest - I'm Catholic so it's almost like a tradition in my religion to see each other for the first time as you walk down the aisle. I just couldn't imagine it any other way and i definitely think for me personally, it would take something away from that moment if I saw him before the ceremony.
Our cocktail hour is extended a half hour so it's an hour and a half to allow us some time to get to it. We will do the majority of pics before hand anyway...me and my parents and BM all will be done before. FH and his parents and GM all done before. My girls with my FH all done before. Me and the guys done before. So the only pics that will need to be taken in between are a few of FH (DH at the time) and me alone...and the 2 of us with each of our families....and with BP. Honestly how many poses can you get of you and DH with family members - those will all be so quick. Our photog assured us it would not be or look rushed. Other photogs I met with gave me a very hard time about this and that's what made me go with my photog - he was the only one who understood my decision and made me feel comfortable about the pics he'd take for us.
Good luck with your decision!

Duh I'm totally new to this- I thought if I edited this post, it would bump, but it didn't
So as you can see in the title- We're close to booking a church! Thank God I found one that was accomodating and understanding!
Can I just tell you how depressed my mom was that I might not get married at a church? It was awful. When she found out I'm close to booking a date, she cried. Wow, I don't think I've ever seen such a reaction! This meant the world to her!!
Thanks again everyone!!!
