honestly..i say go with what you want. everyone's going to have their opinions on what's cheesy and what's not. i don't think your idea is cheesy at all...especially if the bags are that nice and the candies are your and FH's favorites instead of just some random selection of what was the cheapest candy to buy. maybe if you attach a little note to the bag that says the reason why you picked those candies is because they are your favorites people will like them even more!

i like those other favors too..but i know the pains of paying for the wedding by yourselves and i say do whatever YOU want

I voted for the wine opener set..very cute and practical!

I am an advocate of practical favors but if you have your mind set than go for it!!!

The timer is cute, I haven't seen that one before, but you do what YOU want to do.
Don't listen to anyone else.

The candy is a great idea. It is a 'sweet' ending to your lovely affair.

You don't have to do the personalized satin bag if you want to cut costs. You can do an organza bag with a personalized tag instead.
I used this site for my labels
wedding labels

I had personalized favor tags and personalized wine bottle labels.

its impossible to please everyone....what one person thinks is cheesy another thinks is great.....go with what works for your budget, what makes you happy and at the end of the day if someone has a problem with it......they didnt pay for it so to bad!!! i love ediable (sp) favors....i dont need anymore wine bottle openers, or stoppers, or mini frames........i say go for the candy!

Definitely get what you want but as far as practicality - everyone can use a timer for something. I think that's really cute!

Do what you want. I think the candy is great and I would be happy to receive that.

As for the fatty that I am - I would love the candy :-P
I think the most practical gift is the bottle opener though. But people DO love candy too.
I voted for the bottle opener but I also love the candy in the little satin bag. You know what. . . you can't personalize the bottle opener - at least the candy will have your names on them.

it is your wedding and you should do whatever it is that YOU want. I think candy is a perfectly acceptable and fine favor. It doesn't need to be something that is inedible. You can't please everyone, but you need to start with yourself first.

I know how you feel...I wanted to do chocolate bars for our engagement party...but nobody liked this idea...so I ended up changing them to measuring spoons (which I absolutly loveee) But if the candy represents you and FH then stick with it. Nobody remembers the favor anyway...and at least with candy people can eat it and not have something to clutter their shelves...

Don't let one person's opinion ruin what you want...i LOVE the idea of jelly beans...usually you get chocolate...and how is an edible favor cheesy???? There will always be someone who has something negative to say about stuff...if it's what you truly love...ignore them! They can have favors they like at their wedding!

I didn't vote because I would be fine with either of the edible options. My junk drawer is filled with tchotchkes from well-meaning couples.

Do what you can afford, even if it's no favor at all. Period.

I think what you want to do is fine. I plan on doing something similar. If thats what you want to do then go for it.

Thanks everyone for sharing their opinions. After much reflection, I am going to stick with my original plan. The bags are beautiful and to anyone who comes to my wedding and is unhappy with the elaborate cocktail hour, 7 choice of entree, wine bottles on tables for every couple or chocolate fountain vietamese hour and still expecting some kind of extravagance on top of that..well, I wish they'd stay home then. Seriously, STAY HOME. I don't go to weddings expecting anything other than to be happy for the person I went there to see. I guess that's just me..LOL

Thanks again!!!

haha....my motto throughout the planning process was 'If you don't like what i am doing you don't have to come!'.... just keep repeating that to yourself
