We usually go up to lake champlain-FH has friends that have a house up there.
Can't comment on LG; but overall it should be a nice relaxing 5 days. We'd grill out; relax by the lake; watch movies; drink LOL! go to breakfast in town; ski during the winter months.
that's what i'm hoping for - RELAXATION!
i seriously wouldn't even be mad if it rained the whole time. i just want to be away!
get drunk and yell OMG IT'S CHAMPY! and point excitedly towards the water.
see..that's fun.
is it bad that i have NO CLUE what you're talking about? lol

one of my mom stories. I have tons. She's really ditzy.
we were at lake champlain when I was like 12 and I was hopping from rock to rock near the shore. My Mom yells, AMY! I see Champy!
I'm like where? and then give her a look like you're on crack Mom.
she points directly where I'm standing.
I'm like, Mom, that's a rock.
she says NO, it moved!
I get annoyed and yell. MOM! IT'S A ROCK! I'm jumping on it . LOOK!...and proceed to jump insanely up and down on this slippery rock and fell into the water.
to this day she tells people Champy pushed me into the water.

anyone been?
i'm heading up there for 5 days next weekend, wondering if anyone has recommendations on places to go or eat. we're actually staying in hague which is like 40 min north of lake george village and 20 min of bolton's landing.
thanks in advance ladies!
I lived 40 min south of it last year... It's GORGEOUS. OK, if you like ice cream, right next door to Great Escapes (which is also a lot of fun) is Martha's Ice Cream - it's one of those walk up to the window shops.... IT'S SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!! Always crowded but really yummy!
Yes!! We had been recommended to go there because its the BEST ice cream but it was too packed to go!
It is TOTALLY worth the wait! FH and I would drive up there just for the ice cream!!!

Re: Lake George
we stayed in Bolton Landing at Candellight cottages last year. We grilled most of the time, went out for breakfast one day in this little place in Bolton Landing right on Lake Shore Dr. We loved Aidirondack Winery! We also rented a boat for an afternoon and went out on the lake tubing. not sure if you guys are going alone or with anyone. We rented the boat from a place one town away from bolton landing. It was super fun and a great way to see everything. We had rain while we were there so we watched a lot of movies. We also took our bikes up. Just remember you are going the weekend after 'peak season' which is when we went. Some things were definetly closed already!

thanks for the info...i wasn't sure how much stuff was going to be closed - i assumed a lot, but FH was like no no no, it's still warm out so things will be open. i tried explaining that their season ends labor day weekend, so i guess we'll see.
me and FH are going with my sister and her BF (who happen to be our MOH and BM that 'found each other' at our eparty hahahaha)

My best friend has a house up there on the lake and we go every year!
places to eat for breakfast or lunch - there's a farmhouse restaurant you gotta try but I can't remember the name..but if you ask about the farmhouse restaurant someone will know, and then there's the place Rachael Ray was 'discovered' which i went to abotu a month ago and it's so delicious and has an adorable store in there, too!
