What is the difference?

Ronkonkoma is part of Connetquot. Lake Ronkonkoma is part of Sachem.

Its all about location, lake ronkonkoma is north of the expressway ronkonkoma is south

FYI Ronkonkoma is also part of the sachem SD

I have a bunch of friends that live north of the exp. and it's still ronkonkoma...that's the way I always knew the difference

Yah my FH cousin lives north of the expressway and he went to Connetquot and he is considered Ronkonkoma, mostly the houses around and near the lake are Lake Ronkonkoma and go to Sachem but parts of Ronkonkoma got to Connetquot and some parts go to Sachem. Both are very good schools.

To further complicate things Lake Ronkonkoma is ALSO part of Middle Country School District. I live in Lake Ronkonkoma and used to live in Ronkonkoma, as far as I'm concerend they're two different towns like Islip, Central Islip, West Islip, Northport, E. Northport, Centerport...we can go on and on.....

Wait until you get to Lake Grove. New name, same zip code (I think).

Honestly there is not much of a difference...Both are on both sides of the expressway...both go to Sachem or Connetquot...Lake Ronk does go to Middle Country (that was me...lived there and went to Centereach HS). When we were growing up we thought the difference was that Ronkonkoma was the older section and Lake Ronk was newer.

Yes it's true...Lake Ronk..where I grew up can be north of the expressway and be middle country schools. there are good and bad areas of both..just like any other town.

Actually, lake grove is a different entity all together. Lake Ronk and Ronk, though -- they have the same zip. And parts of all three towns go to Sachem.

Lake Grove is an old name with a different zip code. (I grew up there. )

I lived in Ronkonkoma and went to Middle Country Schools...Lake Grove is also part Middle Country and part Sachem but thier zip is 11755.....Ronkonkoma is a huge area...it starts at exit 58 on the LIE and goes all the way to exit 61
