please let me know your thoughts on the place (you both love it, obviously beacuse you booked) we really want a location on the water. did you look at crescent beach club? and how do they compare? we viewed the site for lands end (looks beautiful), but a limited # of photos were available. can you choose to have cocktail outside (weather permitting). 1 thing that struck me was the really high ceilings in the reception room, how was the room when you saw it. any feedback would be great. we are planning a 2002 summer wedding. i am getting nervous beacuse i think everything will be gone by the time we decide. we are flexible w/ date (late spring - early fall and friday night is an option). thanks in advance! -dani

Land's End
I am also booked at Lands End for fall 2001. My fiance and I fell in love with it as soon as we went in. I loved the windows in the main room. If weather permits, you can have the cocktail hour outside, they have a huge patio that can accommodate a large party. There is also an inside cocktail room, which is where we are having it since it is the middle of November when we are getting married, which is really pretty too. It is a bit on the expensive side, but it is really pretty and the food is supposed to be outrageous.
There's a magazine called Locations and something sorry can't think of the rest of the name. But it's a green magazine w/ a woman in white in a garden on the front cover and I think it cost about $5. This magazine has places for the 5 boroughs and nassua, suffolk and Jersey. It gives you all types of info, it's very helpful. They do have quite a few places in there for Brooklyn. Also if you go to any bridal shows I've seen them give that magazine away.
Good luck and Happy planning

Land's End
I was in a wedding that was held at Land's End. It was execellent!! You made a great choice. The service of the staff was great, food was delicious. Can't say anything bad about it. Have Fun!
We just went to Joe Abbraciamento for a birthday party 2 weekends ago. I didnt get a good look at the place other than the room we were in but the food was pretty good. I wouldnt consider it on the same level as The Swan Club or Russos though. I lived on Long Island in Medford, 15 minutes from Ronkonkoma, for 23 years up until August of this year. I moved to Idaho to be with my fiance. My huge family all lives on Long Island still so that is why I am looking to get married there. Most of my family lives on the border or Nassau and Suffolk so Im not sure where we are going to get married, but with 6 months to plan we better get moving.
