If you had to choose between the two above- which one would you choose? Why?
Also, any pros and cons of the two places?
Thanks so much ladies!

Re: Lands End VS Villa Lombardi's
Hmm, they are both SOOOO different from each other.
If I came from an Italian family or a family that placed a big importance on food, I would - without a doubt - choose Villa Lombardis. I think that you cannot go wrong with Villa or Lombardis on the Sound. The amount of food that you get is UNBELIEVEABLE. So, if you wanted to pick a RH based on food or based on the amount of food that you get, I'd definitely consider Villa Lombardis.
Aesthetically speaking, I like Lands End better. I love waterviews, and Lands End is right on the water. I like a RH that has more of a rustic (I hate that word, because I immediately think of a log cabin....but I'm blanking on the adjective I'm looking for here...) feel. Does that make sense? I think Villa Lombardi's is very ornate/formal - compared to the more relaxed feel that I get at Lands End.
Like I said, they both seem very different. Just throwing this out there...but if your family member likes Lands End because of the waterview, maybe they'd like Lombardis on the Sound? We almost booked there. It has all of the food and quality of Villa Lombardis, but is a bit more relaxed than Villa Lombardis and has the waterview...
So for me, I'd pick Lands End. I place more importance on aesthetics than I do food...and since LE fits my style more than VL I'd choose them.

Re: Lands End VS Villa Lombardi's
Thank you!
Well, Lombardi's on the Sound does not have enough room for the amount of guests they are going to have so that is why that place does not work.
Yes, I think VL gives lots of Italian food-- on the other hand, I know because I am booked at FF (same owner's as LE)... the amount of food that Lands End gives is AMAZING too. It's not all traditional Italian-- it's more 'unique' and 'gourmet/restaurant' but it's plentiful and delicious- we were FLOORED at our tasting.
But all good points and lots to consider- thanks so much for your help!

No prob! Yeah! I went to a wedding at LE - I was amazed at the food! It was fantastic! They do a large spread too.
I wasn't trying to downplay the food that Lovin Oven does. They are fantabulous!!

I totally agree with all of this.
While the food at Lands End is more gourmet and is excellent, you do not get anywhere near the amount of food you get at VL, which is also excellent.
However, I defiitely think LE is the more beautiful of the two, and having been to weddings and other functions at both, I would pick LE. BUT, if the person is into a more ornate, glitzy type of decor, VL is the way to go.

Thank you again!
I agree that VL definitely gives you a ridiculous amount of food-- absolutely. The only point I was trying to make is that the amount of food both places gives you is so much to begin with- that it really doesn't matter. It's almost wasted in a way- all that food, my goodness!
But everyone is right about the decor- it depends on the person's taste.

Re: Lands End VS Villa Lombardi's
I wanted to look at Lands End but East Wind won me over so I didnt bother to go. But coming from an Italian family I WAS very impressed with Villa's food selection. On the other hand, the decor of the place has a very hard core italian feel. I keep using the work GATSY if anyone knows what Im talking about. Even the woman who showed us around scared me with the amount of teased hair and lip liner she had on! YIKES From the pictures ive seen of Lands End..it looks classy and beautiful, I think it depends on the feel the couple is looking for and what lands end will offer in terms of selection and price. Villa seemed to be the same in terms of price as East Wind when we were looking but we didnt love it as much. Coctail room wasnt as nice there and the decor overall made me feel like I should had been a Gotti bride!!

Re: Lands End VS Villa Lombardi's
October is considered off season for Land's End (at least according to the paper work I got, which says May - Sept is peak season). For peak season of '08, it was $140 per person with a guarantee of 150 for a Friday night and i think $175 per person on a Saturday night.

Re: Lands End VS Villa Lombardi's
We had a similar debate, except we were debating Lombardi's on the Sound. Ultimately we chose Lombardi's because of the lower minimum and lower price and becuase many of our guests are 50+ and might not appreciate such a diversified menu. But the food is definitely more exotic at Land's End.

Re: Lands End VS Villa Lombardi's
We were torn between Lombardi's on the Sound and Land's End and we went with Land's End. The food sounded amazing at both, but we figured we really didn't need the huge amonut that Lombardi's gives you when Land's End gives so much and it is excellent (the tasting was amazing!). We also chose Land's End because of the waterfront location and the huge amount of space they have. We figured if someone does not want to be in the ballroom or gets tired of the band at Land's End they have so many other beautiful places they can hang out. The service at Land's End so far has been incredible.
