Las Vegas and Grand Canyon question...

Anybody do both in the same vacation? How easy is it to get from one to the other?

hi sunny,
i did this as an excursion from vegas-- you can do it by puddle jumper plane (about an hour i think it was?) or helicopter. driving is like 6 hours or so away.

It's kind of a hike, but like Lori said I think it is between 5-6 hour drive away. They also have day excursion tours you can book in Vegas to there (bus).

My Dh and I went there as part of our HM and yes it was about 5 hours from vegas.

If you go on a tour from your hotel you can go to the west rim (which is closer maybe an hour or two) B/c it's indian reservation land and only the tours can travel through (It's basically a ten mile dirt road)

We did however travel up north around the Sierra Neveda moutains up to Sequioa national Park (California)...That was well Worth it!!!! I enjoyed that park ten times more then Grand Canyon
That drive was about 6-7 hours too. We stayed there over night.

We did both! We flew over the Grand Canyon in a 6 seater plane. It is a day trip!

We did the helicopter from Vegas to the Canyon in February 2002. We had a blast!

I went there with a bunch of girlfriends about two years ago. We did the bus trip for the day. It's a long trip, but it was so worth it. Have fun!

definitely go if you can. the grand canyon is absolutely amazing. if you have a chance drive there, stay overnight, and hike down into it a little. you will truly feel how small you are. which for me was a cool feeling. i'm completely hooked on the canyon now. i've hiked to the bottom twice and plan on going again this fall or next spring. have a great time!
