Las Vegas Weddings???

Las Vegas Weddings???

Just curious if anyone has ever actually had, or been to a Las Vegas wedding.

My FH & I are thinking of going this October with 2 other couples that we're really close with and getting married there. When we first met, we jokingly agreed that is how we'd end up getting married, bc both of us love vegas and all of the excitement!!! But my family is dead set on having a traditional ceremony. Even though they aren't contributing one cent to our wedding, I'd like to keep the peace and compromise. If we do get married in Vegas, we plan on having a 'mini' ceremony & reception at a local catering hall or restaurant by the water around the same time we would've had our original wedding date (4/22/11). Just having family, and close friends. We're still debating it, as we already have put down a non-refundable deposit on a RH. My FH is OK with losing it; he said we'd save so much money by doing it the vegas/family way and the rest of the money that we would've spent on a wedding, we could put toward a down payment for a house. I agree, but I'm a stickler when it comes to money, and feel that it would be money down the drain if we cancel with our RH.

Any thoughts/ideas??

if you are going to save over $5000.. your deposit is so minimal compared to have much you will save....

If both your hearts are in Vegas, Go for it!!!!

i went to a wedding in vegas, it was a nice time. FH's uncle and aunt who were together for 10 plus years finally got engaged and they decided to go to vegas to get married, they invited family members and friends and whoever wanted to make the trip made it there... they got married at a chapel off the strip and then there was a limo that took them to the venetian hotel... (we just followed them with our own rental car) at the venetian they threw a dinner at the grand luxe for everyone as part of their mini reception... im sure it saved them a ton of money and it also suited their personalities as well as i don't think they ever wanted the big traditional wedding.

FH and I decided to do a destination with a small lunch back home after. The cost savings are tremendous and although a big beautiful wedding is an amazing thing to share with everyone, I'm so excited to be having our wedding somewhere that means so much to us. Everyone who is coming is really looking forward to doing something different, too.

FM me if you want some more info!

my BM got married in Vegas last year ... she had it in a chappel in Paris ... it was pretty, though a tad on the tacky side (they have other chapels though which are nicer ... the one she chose was just waaaay too gold for my taste) .... then she did a dinner at a restaurant for everyone that came ... it was small but really nice and affordable

my brother and sister-in-law got married in Vegas. They had it at the Flamingo. It was beautiful. They had an outdoor ceremony with a really nice reception inside. The food was awesome and they got a really good package (I dont remember how much it was) You dont have to have it in one of the drive though chapels- you can have it in one of the hotels/casinos. If you are really thinking about this- I would say go for it!

Re: Las Vegas Weddings???

you can have a beautifulllll wedding in Las Vegas if you do it correctly.

My friend got married at the bellagio a few years ago, she had a beautiful ceremony and then a sit down dinner for about 30 people at one of the bellagio restaraunts- cost her under 10K for everything including dress, airfare and hotel.

I really wanted to do this to save money so when I went to vegas last year I looked into it.

I went to the Bellagio, The Wynn and the Venetian

the price is about 10k for 50 people- for everything- flowers, food, ceremony etc

If you have your wedding at one of the nicer hotels it will be farrrr from tacky and you will save soooo much money! and you might be surprised how many people will be willing to go! Vegas is a very affordable trip-hotel and airfare for 3 days is normally around 3-500 which is not bad...

I say go for it! Most of the hotels are great about emailing you pics, brochures and pricing. The Wynn was my favorite- it was the prettiest out of the 3- simple, elegant and not tacky

let me know how it pans out!

I still harass FH everyday about it, Id loooove to do it Vegas! I still have the brochure from the Wynn- I show it to FH every now and then

My best friend had her wedding at the Wynn in Las Vegas and it was the best wedding I have ever attended. It was absolutely stunning and so much fun! The Wynn outdoor ceremony area is beautiul and the food and party were great. We had a great time there a couple days before the wedding just spending time with everyone who came....it was a BLAST~

i'd really appreciate that.. The main thing I'm looking for is a package that has great photography. Most places I've contacted have deals where you can get 12 or 24 pictures of the ceremony, and I feel that's not enough for me. I'm a camera fanatic, so 12 photos isn't going to cut it for me LOL. I'll do the same. I've sent out about 15 or so email to different locations. http://www.702wedding.com/ seems pretty nice.

My friend got married in Vegas years ago. Its not my cup of tea but to each his own. They actually got married at the Bellagio outside. It was nice, but it was so quick, seriously maybe 5 min long that it didnt even feel like i saw her get married. We had a very simple dinner at a restaurent.
