Last minute day trips and/or weekend getaways. Suggestions & ideas, please?
So DH and I just decided that we are sick and tired of staying local every weekend lately, and letting this cold weather (and our lack of $$) get the best of us.
We are thinking about playing hooky on Friday and just getting away from it all , within driving distance of course
We both hate football so we wouldn't be watching the SB anyhow
SO let me have it - any and all ideas/suggestions on where to go for a last minute getaway? Actually preferably any ideas for daytrips would be welcome, as long as its no more than a 3 hr drive or so
The only places we are NOT interested in is Atlantic City, Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun (we've been there a couple times the past year and are not looking to gamble whatsoever)

Why don't you look into the Berkshires or Adirondacks? There are some beautiful B&Bs there.

i would say the poconos -- they have some decent resorts, but you have to do a little homework and make sure they are updated.
we went to one once and it was obvious the place was right out of the 1970's

Newport, RI - they have old mansions you can visit, a strip of stores to shop in, good restaurants, bars..all on the water..many bed and breakfast places to stay at..
or, Boston is fun!! or what about a night in NYC??

Well Felicia from my memory of last baseball season, why don't you go to Cooperstown and stay overnight, I've never been, but supposedly the town is really cute.
DH and I were thinking of doing that for V-day.

Try Mohonk Mountain House! It is absolutely beautiful there--my father lives near there and I almost got married there (then decided to have it on LI). Very cozy and intimate

Boston, Boston. Boston!!!!!!!!!! We went Memorial Day Weekend and had a great time! So much to see and do. The only problem with going now is that the weather (SNOW MOUNDS) might not cooperate with you.
