Last Names....

Are you ladies going to take your FHs last name? If so, do you plan to hyphenate or change it to his only?

I plan to hyphenate. FH wants me to change it to his only but I just can't lose my last name completely. One day though we were talking about our future children's names and he want's a Jr. or actually a III (hes named after his dad) and I always wanted to name my son after my brother who passed away and middle name after my dad so I said if you let me name our 1st son then i'll change my last name to just yours LOL..

I am going to take FH last name. Although my grandpa jokes that I should keep mine since he only has 4 granddaughters and he wants to keep the last name in America. We have family in Italy with the last name.

Thats another reason I want hyphenate, my dad only had 2 daughters and even though my last name is common I still want to keep it for him and not lose it completely.

I'm a doctor, and i worked HARD to become Dr. Regina. That will 100% not change. I love my FH and he is help me get through medicine, but i feel its a huge slap in the face to my parents if i changed it to Dr. Mahoney.
If people want to call me Mrs. Mahoney, thats all good....but i'm going to be Dr. Regina forever lol.
I dont plan on changing anything legal. Thankfully my FH completely understands this, there would be a problem if he didnt lol

I totally understand and agree. Glad ur FH understands!

He jokes all the time about me being the bread winner and he's eventually going to be a stay at home dad (well see what happens when the time comes)....and he's going to become Mr. Regina....we all just laugh.

It's gonna be a big pain the the a$$ to change everything, especially my degrees and my license (when I get it next year) but this was a pretty big deal to FH. I'm actually excited to take his last name- it feels so official lol
