Last Song At Your Wedding

Original post by BridalBliss

For those of you who have picked out your music already, what song are you using for the 'Finale' song? My FH and I want something upbeat, but we can't find anything we like really.
Thanks!

I think I want Dido's 'Thank You'

I was thinking this too, but for guests to hear as they go out. as for last dance song, so far I am stumped....I don't want to use anything that I've heard before.

eta: that I've heard USED before...

We used 'take me home tonight' by Eddie Money and people loved it! People still come up to me and tell me that was the funniest last song they ever heard at the wedding. And me and DH of course danced to it with everyone around us......makes me laugh just thinking about it.

That's a great idea!!!! I never thought of that one! I may have to call our DJ up and change our last song!

We used...and loved...Closing Time by Semisonic

Closing time
Open all the doors and let you out into the world
Closing time
Turn all of the lights on over every boy and every
girl
Closing time
One last call for alcohol so finish your whiskey or
beer
Closing time
You don't have to go home but you can't stay here

I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
Take me home

Closing time
Time for you to go out to the places you will be from
Closing time
This room won't be open till your brothers or your
sisters come
So gather up your jackets, move it to the exits
I hope you have found a friend
Closing time
Every new beginning comes from some other
beginning's end

I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
Take me home

Closing time
Time for you to go out to the places you will be from

I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
Take me home

I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
Take me home

Closing time
Every new beginning comes from some other
beginning's end

'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' by Israel Kamikawiwo'ole (sp?)
That really sweet, pretty Hawaiian version. Everyone was like 'OMG, I love this song!'.

OMG, I love the idea of Somewhere over the Rainbow, the Hawaiian version by Israel Kamakawiw'ole. I think its the version they played on ER when Dr. Greene died, and it was so emtoinal, not the emotion I want exactly but its such a beautiful version..I think my mind is made up.... well maybe the second to last song, I'll make the last one a dance.. I do like my love is your love... hmmmm so much to think about!! Thanks for the great ideas ladies!!

We used Frank's New York New York - we're Yankee Fans!

Marymoon - Wishes is the best idea ever for a closing song. Seriously. BEST EVER. I cry every time I see that fireworks display. And I've never even been proposed to during it.

Suven - When songs are translated into English from other languages, oftentimes the syntax and grammar is atrocious if you keep it literal. Also, many times there are phrases that don't translate well unless you know both languages' idioms. For example, something here could be called 'The cat's pajamas' but in other languages they'd be wondering why a cat was wearing clothes to bed. Or at all. Besides, who says 'I depart with you' in English? It doesn't make sense! 'I depart from you' or 'I part with you' maybe, but it just doesn't work.
