The fur is already flying in my house. My mom started lecturing me this morning telling me what I should do for MY wedding.
She started off by saying that she needs to see the centerpieces and if she doesn't like them I have to get better ones.
Then she said I can't include my FH in picking out invitations.
I'm not gonna bore you guys but the list goes on and on and i'm already crying and fed up with wedding stuff.
I want to include my FH in stuff, he actually likes planning the wedding with me. I mean of course I want my mom's help but I feel like she's just gonna push what SHE wants and not what I want

I think that it's wonderful both your FH and mom are willing/wanting to help but you definitely need to have a talk with your mom.
Is she helping you out at all financially? I'm only asking because sometimes when a family member helps out by paying they want to make sure that their opinion matters in the final decision and that you're not just 'tossing' the money to something random... Do you know what I mean?
Either way though I would tell her that you love her and value her opinion but that you want to make sure yours and FH's personalities show through and that when you look back on your pictures you want to see your special day.
You could also give her a different project to work on. Be like mom, help me pick out the menus and escort cards, but leave the centerpieces to me and FH... Just so she still feels involved in some way but it's not for a major decision.

Happens all the time!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom told me that my ceremony won't be classy cause I'm having a doo-wop group sing at the ceremony, but I am doing what I want. I think doing this set a standard for her not to tell me what to do for my wedding and it was good.

I think giving her a specific 'task' is a great idea. Let her personalize something all on her own that way she feels she had a role in the decorating.
Isn't it great when FH enjoys planning the wedding? My FH seems to really enjoy it as well, it's a comforting feeling. Good Luck!

Wow!!! I am so sorry chica ur going thru this...
It is so nice ur mom wants to 'help' but i think that is way too much.. to the extreme....
My Fh and I are the same way, we are planning things together.... We are the ones who are deciding what to get on where to get it and how to get it bc its our Wedding...
U should probably talk to ur mom and let her know... or give her a little project so she can be 'busy'...
