Latest I should order my dress?

I am a freak! I have found a dress that I love. I have dragged people to look at me in it three times. I try it on, I love it, the person who is with me loves it and tells that is THE dress, I agree, I leave. Next day, hmm, not sure. This has been going on for several weeks. So I continue to look to see if I will find anything I like better. At this point, I am walking into bridal salons and walking out without trying anything on.

My wedding in 7/5/03. I don't know how much longer this nonsense will continue. When do I get to the point that I am cutting it close to my date without having ordered a dress?

I am bringing another BM to look at it this week.

Re: Latest I should order my dress?

It depends on the manufactorer really, some of them take a long time to come in,, I ordered mine in June and it's not coming in until January!

I know that if it's Eve of Milady they can take up to a year!!

I would ask the salon..

Why are you soo indecisive about the dress??

Re: Latest I should order my dress?

Ok. I would try if you can order in about 8-9 months prior to your wedding. But like the last post said some dresses can take longer and you should talk to your shop and see if you can get an honest answer from them.

I had a dress I really really liked. I went with my mom, I went with my MOH, I went by myself. I looked at tons of other dresses and kept coming back to this one dress. So I figured I should just buy it but like you something was holding me back. The one I was trying on wasn't in the best condition so I was going to try it on in another shop. On my way to this other shop, my mom asked me to go to this shop her friend recommended. Reluctantly, I went and the first dress I tried on there I fell in love with. My mom (who had loved the other dress), my aunt and most importantly knew this was the dress for me. My mom and aunt cried! If you are hesitant (unless you are just one of those people that will never be sure) I would look around some more.

Also, if you can try to take a picture of yourself in the dress and when you get home take a look at it and see what you think. That helped me a lot. I know I am so happy I waited. I ordered my dress about 8 months before my wedding. It came in a month earlier than they told me - about 5 months in total. It is a couture dress that I also had a customization done and it came from Australia. I think that was pretty quick!

Ask the salon, I too ordered my dress in June and it won't be in until LATE MARCH! Better to ask. I also agree with the above post of taking a picture It really helps! Plus then any time you get down in your wedding plans you look at it and it can pick you right up!

Re: Latest I should order my dress?

Becky,

I'm getting married 7/4/03 and ordered my dress in July. I looked for 2 months and finally found the 'one'.

I was told it would take 9 months to get my dress in (Paloma Blanca), so if you find the dress, order it now.

You rather it be in early than late.

Re: Latest I should order my dress?

I'm June 04...I ordered it yesterday.
Remember that the garment district closes in December and in February EVERY year...You lose time that way.
I say order it!

Re: Latest I should order my dress?

If you are reluant then I would hold off and go to a few more places. Is it the cost that you are concerned with? Sometimes that makes people feel that they should keep looking. ALso take a week off from looking. Clear your head a bit and then start again. SOmetimes all the gowns begin to look the same and confuse you even more.
