lavender buds or designer rice for toss

has only used either of these for the guests to toss?

was wondering the pros and cons of each (if you have photos of either being tossed, that would be great too!).

i like the idea of lavender since it smells nice, but designer rice seems more 'wedding' like. plus, FH said he felt weird having people throw something dark at us, instead of rice.

Re: lavender buds or designer rice for toss

the designer rice is the one that dissolves in water right??if thats what it is i just saw that and was thinking of it too! my concern is if its raining, is it going to dissolve on the dresses?? and what is it made out of, can it stain the dresses??
if all is good with the designer rice, and you dont have to worry about the above, that sounds good IMO!

Re: lavender buds or designer rice for toss

Just be prepared, if you do rice.. it hurts when they throw it at you and gets in your dress and hair. My sister did it and it was painful.

Actual rice hurts more than the designer rice. My MIL i guess figured my designer rice wasnt good enough so she had a basket of regular rice packets made - and those hurt!

I dont have any on my computer. I dont think that the lavender really shows in my pics though because i didnt put very much in, so it pretty much just looks like rice being tossed.

Re: lavender buds or designer rice for toss

My priest said 'no' to ANY rice because there are starving people in this world, and we shouldn't be throwing food. Soooooo... we're going with red rose petals, which if what I've always wanted anyway (I LOVE how they look touched up with the red in the black and white pictures). Just make sure your church doesn't have an issue with it like mine does. (I'm just thrilled he's letting them throw the rose petals!)

we're not allowed to throw rose petals outside the church (that would've been my first choice), but i don't think i'd feel bad about designer rice since it's not real rice anyway.

Regular rice may hurt more, but my sister used designer rice and it hurt also. People just flung it at her...
