How many people from your firm did you invite to the wedding? everyone in your practice groups + all major partners, or just friends from the firm or something else?
Thanks

Re: Law firm girls
I work in a small firm so I invited everyone....my bosses with their wives and my coworker who is my sister
But before this job I always worked in big firms and the girls that were getting married invited the main bosses and the attorney they worked for and the girls/guys that they were close to....ex: who you talk to the most, you go out to lunch with, ect.
One girl...chose not to invite anyone just not to offend anyone

Re: Law firm girls
I work at a big firm. I invited everyone in my class year (about 16 people) since we all knew each other really well both from summering at the firm and from going out. There were only a handful of people I wasn't really close with and I didn't think it would be right to exclude them. I didn't invite any partners or other associates though.

I work in a small firm with 4 people, so I invited them all (2 partners, 2 secretaries). One of the two secretaries said dont bother sending her an invite b/c she couldnt make it, the other secretary is coming, and the one partner rsvp'd no. I didn't get the other partner's rsvp yet.

Re: Law firm girls
I work in a huge firm and was planning to invite my entire department (which is much smaller), my officemate, and a few friends from law school who also are there.

Re: Law firm girls
I work at a large firm and I think I am going to invite my head partner and another partner I work for (even though I am closer with other partners) and my friends from the office. I don't know what to do about my secretaries. I am very close with them, but the numbers are beginning to get out of hand. I think they would be offended if I didn't invite them.

Re: Law firm girls
Hmmmm. I think 8 associates (and spouses/dates) a few secretaries & a mailroom guy (who is the gossip that ended up getting FH and I to start dating )
ETA - and 3 paralegals - NO partners

I am struggling with this as well!
My firm and even my department is quite large, so I am not sure...

Re: Law firm girls
I work for a legal services office - not a private firm. We have three offices. In my unit, we have 1 supervising attorney, 7 staff attorneys (including me) 2 paralegals, and 2 social workers spread out in the three offices. The unit also had 2 secretaries until March 2005. Total in the agency is @ 90. Total in my office is @ 35.
Of that, from my unit I am inviting my immediate supervisor, and one of the staff attorneys. I am inviting my former secretary, who is now a receptionist in another office, and three other attorneys from my office that I socialize with (one of whom is dating the attorney from my unit that I'm inviting). I am not inviting the executive director, or either of the two managing attorneys.

Re: Law firm girls
This is probably not the way to do it, but I'm in a smaller department in the firm, and decided only to invite my friends from work. It's only 3 associates who I eat lunch and dinner with. I also invited a woman partner who 'took me under her wing' and would most likely be offended if I didn't.
I don't really care if I offend other people in my department, least of all the partners who work me to death. They certainly won't fire me over it because they like me and plan to work me to the bone until the wedding.
I only felt badly about not inviting some other associates in other departments I'm friends with, but really can't afford to add to the guest list.
Sorry so long (that felt good to vent)!

Re: Law firm girls
I'm only inviting one person from work (she's an associate as well)- she has been a close friend for a few years now. Everyone else is not going to be invited because my wedding is already way too large and I can't invite hundreds of people from work.

Absolutely!! Thanks to them I'll be overweight with wrinkles and bags under my eyes I wouldn't want to see any of the partners there anyway...

Re: Law firm girls
I work at a large law firm, and I invited people who were my friends at the firm (the ones I see outside of work as well) and my direct partner and her husband. I didn't invite paralegals or secretaries or people on my team because I don't spend time with them outside of work.

Re: Law firm girls
I am at a very large firm, though my department only has about 80 people in it. Of the 80, I am inviting about 35-40 people, both partners and associates, plus I am inviting my secretary as well since we are really close.
ETA -- the 35-40 includes guests for the people I work with
