Law Student questions

I am hoping someone may be able to give me some good advice. I graduated in 2003 and after thinking about it long and hard I think I may want to go to law school. The idea of how much $$$$ it costs is soooooooo scary to me and than the idea that after spending all that money I may not pass the bar exam. I know this is probably how alot of people feel, but was everyone else this scared at first. Its a huge decision b/c I am getting married next June and I feel like starting our lives will kind of be on hold for alittle while. How many times have you all taken the bar before you passed? If you dont pass the bar right away, what kind of jobs can you even get? How much are your student loans a month? Thanks for your help guys!

You might want to post this on the Brides Helping Brides board so more people see it. Good luck!

Re: Law Student questions

I graduated 12 years ago, so my loan and tuition information is outdated. I did pay my loans in 10 years without stretching it out more than that.

As for the bar exam I am a true believer that if you take the right classes in law school--the ones that are tested on the NY bar exam, then when you go to study for the bar, it's all review and it is not so difficult. I went to an out of state school but I took all the courses that are on the New York Bar exam. I passed the bar without any problem on the first try (New York and New Jersey). The bar exam is often not as bad as it is made out to be.

I was just out of college when I went and I am glad I got it behind me early in life.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Re: Law Student questions

I graduated in law school in 2001 and passed the NY Bar.

I have never heard of someone going to law school and not passing the bar, perhaps it takes a few tries for some. In any event, if you work hard in law school and take a review course there should be no problem passing the bar.

Have you taken the LSATs? they are given a few times a year and you need at least 150 to get in.

As far as loans, they are doable, considering I would never make my salary withou my JD.
