Lawyer Buddies.....

I have an interview tomorrow at a trusts and estates firm (I have NO experience in this field)...
Anyone have any tips for me? Thanks!

Ooooh, T&E is just not my thing. More power to you! I wish I had some field-related advice, but I know nothing about T&E. What other fields have you worked in?

Real estate and matrimonial. I really want to get into T&E but have had trouble bc of my lack of experience. I haven't been on an interview in so long....I'm so scared I'm gonna screw this up!

Well both RE and matrimonial will have a lot in common w/T&E. Just be confident and honest about your experience. Have you researched the firm at all? If not, do so, this way you can tell them what you already know about them (integrate it into conversation) and let them know that you already know what they do and that you want to be a part of that. I never had trouble gettign a job until after I graduated from law school. The market is tough right now, so don't be too surprised if they lowball you or keep you hanging for a little bit. Especially since all the grads who just took the bar are running for all the jobs at once.

Good luck!

Dont be nervous - just be yourself and be open. I dont know much about T&E - a bit from working at a practinioners office a few years ago - but other than that - I am going through it this semester. As jannshari did say T&E, RE and MAT is interrelated. FIrms dont always hire for expierience - they hire for motivation and potential which I am sure you have. Good luck!! You will do great.

Re: Lawyer Buddies.....help!

There is NO info on this firm on martindale, lexis, nalp, anywhere!! What do I do????

Re: Lawyer Buddies.....help!

I don't know if you'll see this, and I'm sure you already tried, but did you look to see if the firm has a web site? They might have a site, but not be listed with Martindale or Lexis. If there's no information out there about them, then don't worry about it. It's just an added bonus for you when they do have information readily accessible and you've researched it. You can always mention (if asked whether you are familiar with what they do) that you tried to get information on them, but were unable to do so because they weren't listed anywhere or had a website. At least it would show that you tried. The only thing that does (aside from give you extra info) is show them that you like to be well-prepared and to gather all your information ahead of time, and there are other ways of showing that.

If you don't see this until after your interview, I hope it went well! Good luck!

I am probably responding too late to offer you advice ... Good Luck with the interview. Try typing in one of the partner's name into a google search... he/she might come up with a professional affiliation like NYSBA.
