Lawyers or doctors or so on

thishas to do with name change

I graduate from law school and take the Bar before i get married - it will all be on my last name

My FH wants me to take his name and i want to legally change it - the problem is i want to keep my maiden name for work

Can you still sign you maiden name on legal documents or be sworn in under your maiden name when it is not your legal name anymore?

I work for a financial firm and have seen many problems with women that use two names. We don't accept third party checks which means a check made payable to your maiden name (which you use at work) cannot be put into your acct in your married name unless you write a letter stating they are both you, bring in an original copy of your marriage license and show us your driver's license - its a pain. There have also been problems with rolling over 401k plans and with beneficiary information. These are all things that may not come up for years down the road but can cause problems. From everything I've seen, I say pick one name and stick with it - whether it be your maiden name, or you hyphenate or make your maiden your middle or drop maiden all together. But don't use two different names.
