every wedding I have been to the bride and groom are the last to leave. Why leave your party early?
I think it has been a new trend to put on a second dress, but I see it this way, you only get to wear your wedding dress once. I'm keeping it on.
I agree. We've been to 10 weddings in the past year, and the bride and groom stayed till the end at all of them. Honestly, if I were at a wedding and the b&g left early I'd think it was kinda rude! I think it's a more outdated tradition which started because the b&g went off on their honeymoon immediately (maybe I'm wrong, but it makes sense!).
As for changing into another dress, that's also something I've never seen. I personally did not because I loved my dress and wanted to wear it for as long as possible. It's your wedding gown - you get to wear it once - enjoy it!

Re: leaving the reception
We stayed til the very end, last to leave.
I agree with an above poster that leaving early and the guests seeing you off was when couples left immediately for their honeymoons... doesn't really happen anymore

We were the last ones to leave, the idea of the B&G leaving while guests are still there is when you do a send off, it allows the guests to wish you well. I did not change until I got to the hotel, even then I stayed in my dress for awhile after that.

Re: leaving the reception
I think it was an old tradition for the B&G to leave the reception before their guests.
We're going to stay until the very end. I want to make sure all my stuff is packed up and ready to go and nothing is lost in transit.
And that dress will be on me the entire day. I don't plan on taking it off until me and FH hit the bed.

Thats the craziest thing Ive heard so far lol. Not only are you the last to stay, you HAVE to stay to take care of tips and final payments.

Well a lot of people may assign these tasks to others--I know my dad took care of the tips and final payments for us We did actually do a sparkler send-off but we went back in afterwards--it was at the very end, we just went back in to thank the staff and get our stuff

Re: leaving the reception
a 5 hour reception just doesn't seem long enough to me. So me and my FH will DEFINITELY be the last ones to leave that night. Plus the hotel (and our honeymoon sweet) is connected to the reception hall, so what's our rush?
And as for the dress, theres no way I'm taking that thing off. It's GORGEOUS, plus I spent a good load of money on it. When will I ever be able to put it on again? The veil, however, I may choose to remove during then night, depending.
