I was just wondering what you decided on the tipping issue.

Well, I'll probably take a lot of heat for this, but we did tip the priest, the altar servers, dj, maitre d'. Did not tip the photographer or the videographer, not because we were in any way unhappy with them, but because both own their own studios and they are both being paid more than any other vendor but the hall. Also, my hubby had a problem tipping someone when you don't even know how their work is coming out yet! Of course they were all fed at the reception. When I speak to them to get proofs, drop off honeymoon photos, etc. I will likely leave a tip for their assistants then, especially if I am pleased with the work (which I am sure I will be!) Honestly, my husband was just opposed to handing out more and more tips for vendors you are hiring to do a job. I hope this doesn't cause anyone to jump down my throat - this is just what we personally did..

Wow, I never even thought of that, and you are right. It's the same with our vendors. I going to make a note for myself. Thanks!!

Like I said, I'm not trying to rip anyone off of a tip, especially when they do a great job! It's just that as some of you know I had been agonizing over this quite a bit and FI (I mean hubby - that's so strange!) finally put his foot down and made the decision - considering how much money we were spending on everything else. Again, just a personal choice. As an fyi, I did some research online during my agonizing and found that several sources say tipping the photographer and videographer are optional mainly because they are generally getting paid more than any other vendor. It's more of a gesture than anything else, especially if they are the owner.Welcome New Vendors
