I just got engaged. I propbaby getting married October 2007.

1 year 4 months, officially
2 yrs 2 months 'unoffically'

There should still be Saturday nights available for this year at some places. Just do some research and make a LOT of phone calls!! My boss' son just got engaged and they booked Dec. 16th.

We're not having a long engagement, only 11 months. We booked our hall 10 months before our date. So it is possible to do it!! If I were you I would check around for cancellations.

We got engaged in Dec 2004 and aren't getting married until July 2006. (19 month engagement).

We wanted to do it in the summer, and my sister had already set her date for Oct 05, so summer 06 was as soon as we could do it. (Plus, my dad BEGGED us to give him a small break )

I think longer engagements are more common on Long Island than other places where weddings aren't as big a deal. I have some friends (from Boston) that got engaged in the last couple of months and are planning for summer/fall 06 weddings. I think they're nuts because they're really having trouble finding the best vendors.

It does go by really fast, and I'm glad I gave myself a good chunk of time.

I don't think the length of engagement matters... I had to finish school and save money.
