We added on an extra hour and so we booked the Garden City Hotel for 6 hours and I am very happy with it because it is from 6-12 which I think is a good time period for a Sat evening. Do you think guests will feel like this is too long?? I don't, because we split that extra hour between the CH and the reception, so the CH is 6-7:30 and the reception is 7:30-12. Any thoughts?? Thanks!!

Re: Length of wedding...
Since I am having a 6 hour wedding as well, I definitely don't think it is too long. We are also adding to our cocktail hour.
A tip that my BM gave me: don't start the Venetian hour too early...if you want people to stay, then start it about 30-45 minutes before the end. That way, people won't leave right after they've had their dessert (and if they DO leave, it won't be such a huge deal).

Re: Length of wedding...
JMO - I think 1.5hrs for CH is too long...usually by the end of 1 hr, I am so excited to see the reception room and start dancing! So I would just do a 1 hr VH or something.

I'm doing the same thing. I read in a magazine that you should leave them wanting more - but I think that's a perfect amount of time. My FH aunt just got married and her wedding was from 4-11. I couldn't wait for it to end!

Re: Length of wedding...
I feel like an hour an half for CH is too long...I'd be ready for the party after an hour.

Re: Length of wedding...
It's a good length of time, its not too long at all... I personally wouldnt want to add onto the CH though, usually at 45 minutes into it I want to get into the reception room and start dancing but thats just me.

Re: Length of wedding...
I don't think it's to long at all. Mines starts the same time as yours and ends half an hour earlier. On your wedding day, you want the moment to last as long as possible

Re: Length of wedding...
My wedding is the same amount of time (6-12) but the 1st hour is the cocktail hour, and the last hour is the v-hour. I dont think its too long for guests to stay...Its a Sat night- people usually dont have work the next day.

Re: Length of wedding...
Thanks so much for all your honest replies!!! We wanted a 90 min CH bc of the enormous abundance of food there lol but I am definitely open to opinions - that's why I asked!!

Re: Length of wedding...
I think thats perfect. Did you have to pay extra to extend it? We are having ours from 6:30-12:30 (including ceremony) and actually thinking to extend for an extra hour so everything will be 7 hours instead of 6

Re: Length of wedding...
I agree that an hour and a half might be a bit much for a cocktail hour. We're doing 1:15, but that's mostly because my family is late to EVERYTHING. We're going to do a 45 minute VH.
HTH!

This is exactly what I did my wedding is from 6:30-12:30. My cocktail hour is from 6:30-7:30pm. and my reception is from 7:30-12:30. I also have a veniesse hour. A 6 hour wedding is fine!!

Yes it's an extra $15pp for the extra hour, and that's without tax or gratuity so it'll be a few thousand extra. This does not include ceremony, as I'll be getting married in the Catholic church.
